Although the answer to both questions are legally "no" and despite all the news online about fines and jail time if you are caught with an e cigarette in the public, the real answer is kinda yes. I have been in and out of BKK twice in the last 3 months with my vaping equipments and no problem so far. It is "allowed" to bring in for personal use and as long as you are vaping in private is ok. As for buying e-juice and equipments - I have seen them in MV 3rd floor but the selection is limited and there is an "underground" selling network here in HH and BKK. So the bottom line is - bring a small amount of supplies and beware of the risk.

The real question should be; "should you be using those things at all". Please read the following article and view the photos before proceeding. You should also search for exploding e-cigarettes as I've read about others so this is apparently not an isolated incident...

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

HH, I will show him this thanks. He is big enough and ugly enough to make his own decisions. I do salute him for his efforts to date, almost three months of no real cigarettes, where previously he was smoking 10 - 12 twenty packs a week.
Financially that's £120 per week, crazy!

Thai ban on e-cigarettes could lead to ’10-year jail term’
Agents are being urged to warn customers about a Thai law that prohibits e-cigarettes being brought into the country.

Pat Waterton, manager at Langley Travel, said she was unaware of the ban until her nephew, James, paid a £125 ‘fine’ after being threatened with jail for having an e-cig in Bangkok.

Advice on the Foreign Office website includes a paragraph stating: “These items are likely to be confiscated and you could be fined or sent to prison for up to 10 years if convicted.”

Waterton said: “I got a message from my sister saying James had been arrested in Thailand because he had an e-cigarette. He managed to pay the policeman, who had told him he could go to jail. Ten years seems a long time to go to prison for smoking an e-cigarette.”

A spokesman for the Tourism Authority of Thailand reiterated the UK government’s advice, warning tourists not to bring e-cigarettes into the country.

Waterton said: “If I’m selling Thailand I will definitely mention it now. All agents should. Thailand is very popular so we should make sure we are telling people about things that could ruin a holiday.”

Aspen Travel sales consultant Yvonne Montgomery said: “I would probably mention it now. The last thing we want is our customers getting locked up.”

Premier Holidays managing director Susan Papworth said: “Thailand is a big destination for us and since the law has come into force about e-cigarettes we are incorporating the country’s customs and immigration information into all our customers’ itineraries.

“We haven’t seen any impact on bookings, but strongly advise that all agents pass on this advice to their customers.”

Easy to hide such a small thing in your luggage. My friends did, no problem.

Stupid as the law is.... it's still the law and has to be respected.

I am a non-smoker, never been a smoker> I have seen them being smoked in public--What is the reason, I hate to say logic, for the ban??

There is a place in MV that quite openly sells the e cigs and the liquids.
There are plenty of people vaping, including Thais, and I think the only logic against the ban is loss of tax money.

Their (the government)'s logic is that it 'promotes' the idea of smoking!!

A Swiss national was arrested and taken into custody about two or three weeks ago after being caught with an e-cig at the airport.

Nonetheless, as others have said, they are sold openly here in Thailand, and Thais who use them, do so very openly as well.

The fact that you can end in prison for 10 years simply because you use an e-cig is, in my opinion, another reason why so my people in this country have so little respect for the laws of the land.

Last year, as some of you might remember, a market vendor blew a rent collector away with a shotgun. This happened in a crowed public space, and only because of a small personal dispute. The offender has received a 10-year jail term, the same jail term you can get for owing and/or using an e-cig.

Realistically, this can be seen as.........

1. Using e-cigs is an extremely serious crime, no less serious than taking another person's life.

2. Killing someone is no big deal, no worse than puffing on an e-cig.

Now, I could present possible reasons for such well thought out laws, but then I would face the full wrath of the almighty PC brigade. :lach:
