Places to visit in Hua Hin

Good Day. I'm here for a short visit. On my Day-4 and still struggling to find places that worth visiting.

People in the hotel hardly understand English..trouble talking to transport service..

7 Kings (not proper name) located south of Hua Hin near Khao Tao is worth a visit during the week.

I wrire a series of articles/reports on here in 2013/14 on where to go in Hua Hin - give me 20 minutes, and I'll see what I can find.

Go to any real estate office and tell them you want to buy a house. You will get chauffeured all over Hua Hin with all the attractions pin pointed, then next day, grab a taxi and revisit whatever took your fancy.

Have a beer in one of the bars on Soi 80 and watch the passing parade.

You know Hani, when I visit somewhere for the first time, I usually check out all the wealth of information on the internet before I go. Back in 2000, when I first visited Hua Hin, I contacted the Thai tourist office in London before I came and they sent me a wealth of info. I also had the trusty Berlitz guide to Thailand.

I hope you have enjoyed your stay and can take advantage of Big Boys generous work on your behalf, but with respect, you only have yourself to blame for not coming here forearmed.

Ahhhhhhh, You have an Ao Manao trip report as well. Brilliant. That's on my to-do list too (together with the elephants at KuiBuri). Thanks Bigboy. If it get to see some elephants and the dusky leaf langurs I'll be very happy! Will definitely read through all your other reports too.

Probably my favourite day out in the area. It's beautiful down there.

It might be worth considering going early, and calling in to see the Kuiburi elephants on the way home. If you left Ao Manao about 2:30, it would probably work out perfectly time wise.

Bigboy, we were actually thinking about staying overnight at Ao Manao, in the military hotel. Only costs 1000baht per night in low season. I was hoping if we did that I could get to the langurs early and be able to spend more time watching/feeding them. I think what we'll do now is day one drive down to Ao Manao in the late morning, stay overnight and on day 2 stay in Ao Manao till after lunch then head to Kuiburi aiming to be there for 4pm ish (leave Ao Mano around 2.30ish). Are the langurs as friendly and calm as they appear in the many youtube videos?

The langurs are beautiful monkeys, which I've always seen in the historical park. Please remember this is a military air base, and the last 2 times I've been over that way, I've had to leave my ID card to enter that area (I think there may be visiting time restrictions). If you don't have an ID card, I would guess a passport would do. The process is very fast, and your ID card/Passport will be perfectly safe.

The langurs are friendly, and mix well with people. You've got to love the young ones, which are bright yellow.

My last visit, about 3 weeks ago, there wasn't a langur to be seen. A lot of foliage adjacent to the historical aircraft had been cut down, so their natural habitat had been removed. This is Thailand, so I guess it will soon grow back.

I don't think it's open every day anymore, so worth checking in advance. I've not felt that energetic yet, but the place I see Langurs are at the bottom of that mountain, so I'm sure you'd find some on the way up.

Buksida, those photos of the langurs are fantastic! Unfortunately, I don't think either of us would manage that climb up the big hill, my husband has a dodgy leg and I have chronic laziness. But we would manage a coin in the lamp at the wat. Will add that one to the to-do list. Pity about the big hill, the views are brilliant.

Bigboy, if we stayed in the hotel which is inside the military base (Ao Manao Beach Hotel - I think it was formerly called The Royal Thai Air Force Residence), would that then mean we get around any time restrictions regards visiting the langurs? We would be "inside" if you see what I mean?

I so hope that foliage grows back and the langurs come back. I just bought a cheapo go-pro camera to film them with. Well them and the elephants at Kuiburi. I know you get the macaque monkeys at other spots in and around HH, but I am not fond of bitey grabby pully stealy, plus I have no idea how to behave around monkeys, so I'd do something wrong and get bitten. The langurs are gorgeous and the many youtube films of them sold me completely.
