All 12 boys, coach brought out

MAE SAI, Chiang Rai: All 12 boys and their football coach trapped in Tham Luang cave for 17 days have been safely rescued.

“The 9th Wild Boar was out of the cave at 4.06pm,” the Thai Navy Seals posted on Facebook on Tuesday, the projected final day of the mission.

A source said the 10th came out shortly, followed by the 11th and 12th at 6.25pm. Their 25-year-old football coach was the last to come out.

"The 10th is at the cave entrance on the way to the field hospital," a navy official told AFP, requesting anonymity. A local government official confirmed the rescue while a police source, who also did not want to be named, said "the ninth and tenth were about 20 minutes apart."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha dismissed rumours on Tuesday that the boys had been drugged to facilitate the operation, saying the children had not been given anaesthetic. "Who the hell would give that to a kid?"

He says they were given "something to make them not too nervous and panic".

Awesome end to an amazing effort by all involved.

Cave divers are a special group of people with amazing calmness when faced with would normally be an emergency. I'm proud to have known and dove with many.

Can't wait for the movie...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

An absolutely fantastic result but I don't think the family of the deceased diver would call it 100%.

Sorry. You're quite correct. But the objective (getting the boys and their coach out) was successfully achieved.

It would be interesting to read the account of the rescue in the Thai media. My guess is that the role of the British and Aussie divers will be downplayed, if mentioned at all.

"MISSION IMPOSSIBLE IS NOW MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"

Was the wording of the headlines on the BBC evening news :-)

Man U have offered to fly the boys over to Old Trafford next season and give them the VIP treatment

It's an amazing rescue by the expert team of foreign divers who organised the evacuation of the boys. It's such a pity that the Thai press do not acknowlege those divers. The passive tense (in most of the reports), which I teach it to my students, is normally used when you don't know, or don't care who did the action.

Yes, it's a wonderful and fantastic result - but credit where credit's due.

So, tickets to the World Cup Final and a trip to England. I'm a tad concerned that it's turning into a media circus and other young lads will do crazy things to get the same. A nice gesture, but not appropriate.
