Bar Ratings

Post by butterfly_grey »

Hello, I have recently returned after a 2 month stint in Hua Hin. I did some extensive research into the bar scene thanks to the information listed on this really good forum. However, in reality, I found some of the bars listed at the top of the table left a lot to be desired. :( I certainly do not want to upset anyone on this forum, but i would like to point out the following IMHO Celtic bar was mostly empty with only 3 girls at the most. U turn same-same. All bar won was closed more often than not. Johnny walkers seemed to cater for known patrons only. Flamingo bar was so small I I was getting claustraphobic. Coconuts 2 was the same. On a brighter note, the Ship inn was great as was the Londoner (?) Coconuts was my pick with a heap of good looking girls and very friendly. I will be back in December and I imagine with the high season ALL the bars will be doing good buisseness. Everyone will have their opinion about the bars in Hua Hin, this is mine. :D

Welcome to the board,
Most of the bars rated were done in the high season when they were a lot busier. It is also very difficult to attain consistency with bars as every night is different; different staff, patrons, events etc. The ratings are just a GUIDE and not to be taken as gospel. You can use this forum for a more upto date guide to whats hot and whats not.

A good bar is all a matter of personal choice, I would like to invite you to write your own opinion for our bar reviews page on the bars you did enjoy and why.

Bar reviews & ratings

Post by PeteB »

Hi Blonk 11 and thanks for posting.

I'm UK based, have no connection with any bars and have never been 'bribed' by free beer in Hua Hin.

We can all only take as we find.

I must say that Butterfly_grey agreed with some of your sentiments, but in a more constructive way. He does not run down the forum, its aims or its members though. Quote from his post (which I believe is meant to be both helpful and constructive:
I did some extensive research into the bar scene thanks to the information listed on this really good forum....................I will be back in December and I imagine with the high season ALL the bars will be doing good buisseness. This varies enormously from your contribution:

Thank God I don't live in your sad world, although I fear that you may be UK based - which doesn't exactly fill me with joy.

Like many others I have to rely on forums such as this for information about various destinations. I also try to be helpful and truthful to others in my posts.

As you do not care for the forum, or the bars in Hua Hin, perhaps you may prefer to use your wit and eloquence elsewhere.

Your life has already obviously been ruined. Don't try to ruin it for others.

Blonk11, you are a f%#@ pelican!

I happen to know for a fact that the owner of this website does not accept "bribes" for bar ratings. Besides, it would be pretty cheap to allow oneself to be bribed by a 60 baht beer.

What Lev and the contributors of this website have done is created rating and ranking system based upon the local bar scene (you f%#@ pelican!).

Of course the night life in Hua Hin is not the same as Pattaya, Bangkok or world class like Hong Kong or New York - but we work with what we got.

The only bar I can think of that you "might" like in Hua Hin would be the Hilton (which moderately high ranked). However it is pricey - bringing down its rank a little. Go there spend your money and feck off...

If you don't like the Hua Hin scene - I'll tell you exactly what to do... Now listen carefully, I need you to reach down, grab your ass and get it the hell out of Hua Hin (you f%#@ pelican!).

Cheers!

Dickhead

Post by buksida »

Have read our 'policy on new members' and agree, its seems now though that we need a 'policy on dickheads' put in place.

Not once has this blonk fella had a good word to say about anything, I reckon he's a really nice bloke to go out for a beer with too. Can you imagine the conversation, "... this bar sucks ass, this beer tastes like shit, that chick is butt ugly ... "

Blonk 11 has been a real arsehole for a while.

Unless I'm missing something, I agree with the other posters - namely that he?she?ladyboy, should tell us where he thinks it's good to drink and why. I'm always willing to learn.

PS If he's English, he should learn to spel (sic).

Personally, I love this website. It keeps me in touch with Hua Hin, so that I don't feel out of the loop while stuck in dreary old St. Louis. Do a Google search, and see if you can get the information this site provides.

Don't like it. Fine, but why complain about it? Why take time away from your obviously lucrative freelance writing career to whine about a place you can easily leave. Last I checked, Hua Hin had two bus stations, a train station, and taxis of all sorts. Pick one and go with it.

To the admin of HHAD, keep up the great work, and don't let the random idiot with a room temperature IQ get you down.javascript:emoticon('')

Bar Review: Celtic Bar Hua Hin

Post by rosax13 »

The Celtic Bar in Hua Hin was one of my favorite Pubs for long time.
On your vacations it's good to know, where you can enjoy a cold beer include meeting friendly girls.
I was really confused, when I returned to the Celtic Bar after months of hard work in Europe.
Many things changed!
If you can't speak Thai, you'll have a hard time to get a drink.
There is nearly no English-speaking stuff anymore.
The girls are nice, but not very interested in taking care of customers, too.
The pool table is mostly occupied by young Thai-men from afternoon till late night, or till they're totally drunken.
The best is really the big screen TV for Saturday-nights-soccer-events, but I suppose that isn't reason enough to visit this Pub often more.
You'll find better more Bars around !

I love this site,

One learns more about HH than from any google search

99% of the contributors seem positive thinking nice guys. The other 1% seem hell bent on not enjoying themselves. I pity them and rather than label them as dickheads I'd descend to the ultimate Thai insult - toerags

One interesting factor is with all the nicknames your never quite such that the guy sat next to you having a beer is the guy who responded to you last blog.

Bars I frequent and we all have our favourites, are Flamingo, best cashier in the universe in my opinion, Happy Torro bar, good staff and always busy, and ocassionally I cross the railway line and venture to Phoenix bar run by Alan (x Flamingo). He's working hard on building trade, but it's good bar with good food.

Crawfords also deserves a mention if only for the excellent food. Try a full size breakfast! you wont need to eat again for 2 days.

Cheers or rather Chaudi to you all

Keep up the good work

Some ask about what part of Yorkshire I come from. Answer - Stainland, a small village near Halifax but I spent my youth in Hull and York
