the beast is coming

Post by H2ODunc »

Hi all. Just to let all you lovers of 2 wheels know, the beast is coming.
Having had a little mishap with a glass cabinet, hand and several chang. The wife dragged me up to BKK to her hospital for a second opinion. Whilst there to cheer me up she says we can go and look for a Honda Valkyrie for my birthday. Sooo grabs a tuk tuk for the day and trawl round looking for one. Lots of HD's if you like that kind of thing and lots of shadows, steeds, dragstars. Some nice bikes but just nothing that pushed all the right buttons. Then the missus shouts out shes just seen a Valkyrie in a shop window. Tuk Tuk screeches to a halt and we walk back to the shop. Its a Triumph dealer. NO it cant be surely, not here, can it, NOOO, OHHH my god it is. A Rocket 3. As soon as I saw it it was LOVE. Even the missus reckoned it was the sexiest bike she'd seen. Once Id had my leg over her that was it. She had to be mine.
So having picked my colour and extras Im now officially the first to have, once she arrives from Blighty in may, A Triumph Rocket 3.
Some interesting facts. Its the largest production motorcycle in the world at 2,300cc.it has the same size pistons ( 3 ) as the 5 litre Dodge Viper. It has the largest section rear tyre of any bike. It has 140BHP and 147lbs torque which it produces at just 2,500rpm. It has more lbs of torque at tickover than a Honda Blackbird at 8,500rpm. It does 0-60 in 2.8 secs Need I say more.Biker heaven. .
I will be stopping off in HH on the way back to Chumphon to see BOB at Easyriders if anybody would like to drool.

keeping the head

When I came over I brought my own lid, Leather trousers and armoured jacket. If Im going anywhere other than nipping into town the lot goes on. Id rather be a little hot but safe. seen too many stupid farang riding whith next to nothing on. If you have ever seen what the road can do to bare skin even at slow speeds you would do the same But they NEVER listen. Now the wife is into riding Ive ordered her one off the internet and she rides with leather trousers and jacket also. Look out for a black and red beast in HH aroun May.

Post the pic, Dunc. It really is a gorgeous bike - speaking as someone who knows nothing about them. My son would love to see that going past him in the street!! :D

Could you put a picture up here? Would be very interested, I was brought up with bike's. My Grand parents who are still very active in their late 60's still have and use their Triumph Trident.

I had a 900z which I was very proud of, your's seems to be something else.

Please post the pic.

You know, Triumph MC has a factory here in Thailand. There was a big splash about it opening with in insert magazine in the Bangkok Post some months ago. I think the factory is in the Chonburi area.

I wonder if this particular bike was made there? Pete

PS: Here's a link with some comments about Triumph, Thailand.
