So your "loyalty" is to county rather than country then?arcadianagain wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 3:14 pm I`m a Devonian and I don`t feel European in the slightest

I remember back in the 70’s visiting North Devon staying at a little small holding in a village called Roborough and in the evening with our dinner, we were given a jug of cider to wash the food down with, either clear or the cloudy version that they called “rough” - it came from the local “Inchs” brewery (if that’s the correct term), but it was very nice.

Lots of great cider made in Cornwall.
I always visited Penwith and on my way back would always stop at Healey's cider farm to buy some goodies, particularly still cider which I really liked. They supplied draught cider to a lot of pubs in the area as well. Their orchards were amazing, it was like a vineyard. Mind you, it seems to have developed a lot in the last few years.

Meanwhile, I have a bottle of this in the fridge. I remember first seeing this in St. Ives and thought their whole range of ciders were great. Then it appeared in a local Waitrose near where I lived and now it's available in Hua Hin. I note it say's 'pressed, blended and bottled' on their label, but not where the apples come from? Oh well, never mind, it's a fine tipple and fantastic poured over ice.

In Toronto there is an active Cornish Association, the only English county that has one to my knowledge, although there is a Yorkshire team in the Cricket league.

Fair shout to that! Can't say I have a loyalty to a single County, I love where I live now (Sir Fynwy), I love Somerset where I lived for 10 years and where family live now. I also adore Devon and Cornwall, but have only visited.arcadianagain wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 8:09 pmNo, country rather that Europe, but Devon rather than any other countypharvey wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 3:26 pmSo your "loyalty" is to county rather than country then?arcadianagain wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 3:14 pm I`m a Devonian and I don`t feel European in the slightest

I lived in England, for 6 months, in 1961. Kent and London. The only time I saw the sun shine was Easter weekend in Cornwall. Cornwall was beautiful.
