Good Bars for Raconteurs

Post by le_raconteur »

Hi everyone,

I'm touching down in Hua Hin on Monday and I'm planning to spend my days eating, drinking, chatting, wandering and being the recipient of some not-to-vigorous massages. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

I'll be searching for some bars where the music isn't too loud, the ladies are too pushy and the gentlemen aren't too drunk. Are there such places and if so could anyone recommend any? I'm planning to stay within walking distance of Soi 80 and Soi Bintabaht.

Thanks :)

Take a look at Father Teds (Irish Bar) on Facebook....should fit your bill.

I have to admit of never visiting Father Teds but I do know that it is a good bar/eaterie, do any Freelancers use the bar?

Thanks for those suggestions.

I took a look Father Ted's and noticed they have a selection of draught beers. Are there any other bars in the area serving draught beer - specifically singha? I'm a bit of a beer snob to be honest but I do love a singha when I visit Thailand.

Sorry Gus, not that I know of...however being in that area the one or other freelancer may have stumbled in (with or without company) :)

Quite a few bars have draught beer, though I have noticed a lot do not clean their lines and therefore the beer tastes like shite with an awful aftertaste. Never had a problem at Teds though....

I don't suppose you've noticed any that do, per chance? It's a fairly common problem, although line cleaning is usually included with draught beer contracts and it's a pretty simple task.

No - don't think so - the Tiki bar mamasan's other half is American (I think..)

There is a Nee Bar in the beer garden area on Bintabaht.

Blacky, Thanks for that, maybe a good place to take a lady to then. :)
When Poolsuk Plaza was in full swing a few years ago, on my second or third visit with my lady friend at the time made me laugh. A serving lady had told her, "He must like you, he usually only brings the girls one time" :)
