So what do you call it? As far as I know, but just being an engineer probably does not help, but when you wish to plug some part into another part that is a different size, but has the same function, an Adapter IS USED!

Re: Which Mobile Phone?
The SIM cards you buy today effectively come as a 3in1, so you choose the size that fits your phone (L,M,S), but if your previous phone and SIM card are a few years old then the SIM card may be just a one size for that particular phone.
Re: Which Mobile Phone?
I call it a full size SIM card that you can easily break down to be a micro SIM or a nano SIM by pushing the smaller part out of the original large SIM. Your old micro was probably purchased before nano SIMs were widely used. Now you just get an original size SIM card breakable into the other 2 SMALLER sizes as required. Just go and change your SIM then you should understand.Nereus wrote:So what do you call it? Re: Which Mobile Phone?
I don't need you to tell me how to understand anything! The fact is if I have a Nano Sim and need to put it in a phone that only accepts a Micro Sim, then I need an ADAPTER! I already posted that I have a couple of Sim cards that include break off sections, BUT the Sim that I have is a MICRO, so it DOES NOT HAVE a break off section to fit into a NANO slot!Just go and change your SIM then you should understand.
But then you know that don't you?

Re: Which Mobile Phone?
@Nereus I understood that you had a new phone that takes a nano SIM card. I couldn't understand why you mentioned adapters in the context of going from micro to nano and new SIMs catering for all 3 sizes. So, sorry I apparently misunderstood.

Calling all Xiaomi phone users!
I'm sure I've seen people on here talking about Xiaomi phones but now I can't find!
Anyway my battery in my redmi note 4x is starting to flag, I'm coming to HH in early Nov and I could wait till then but is there a little shop who can do this?
It's not a simple job like other phones, it's far from easy. I've seen on YouTube, it can be done but think by someone whos experienced /trained.
I'm obviously aware of all those kiosks in MV but last year none of them even had a cover for a xiaomi phone!
Maybe buy the battery here in UK and fit in HH?
Any ideas welcome(wouldn't know where to start in UK!)
Thanks

Re: Calling all Xiaomi phone users!
From the top end of the night market along the train tracks towards the crossing there are loads of small independent phone guys. I bet if you were to walk along there someone would be able to sort you out cheaply. If in doubt, you could bring your own battery, but airlines are getting a bit funny about that now!
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!
Re: Which Mobile Phone?
You can probably get the right battery online (shopee thailand has both redmi note 4 and note 4x batteries) and then one of the repair shops will help fit to the phone. You should open the phone to make sure of the battery number before ordering.

Google Pixel 3 phones launch
The Pixel 3 handsets introduce new photography features including a much higher-quality digital zoom than before.
The company suggests the innovation shows it has no need to place more than one camera on the handsets' rear......
......The Pixel 3 starts at £739 - slightly less than the iPhone XR - while the Pixel 3 XL starts at £869 - slightly more than Samsung's Galaxy Note 9. They will be released in the US next week, and Europe at the start of November......

There is shop on top floor of MV called “IBIZ” (next to Samsung) that actually has several Xiaomi phones on display for sale.thecolonel wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 4:56 pm I'm sure I've seen people on here talking about Xiaomi phones but now I can't find!

I bought one - it was about 100 Baht more than on Lazada, but no back cover available there or anywhere in MV (I bought one easily in Kuala Lumpur this week).
If you’re in MV, maybe “IBIZ” could advise on the replacement battery?
Re: Which Mobile Phone?
I just got myself a Oneplus 6 , it has same cpu and ram as a note 9,
screen resolution is not quite as sharp as a note 9, but the screen is made by samsung for this company,
it has some serious firepower and along with Mi Mix 2S , it matches the big brands for sheer power,
If your willing to look away from samsung and Apple, Oneplus6 and Mi Mix 2S offer same specs for 50% of the price

The absolutely best Android phone on the market now is Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Just launched on October 16th. I guess it could take a few weeks before it is available in Hua Hin though.

Are companies becoming desperate to come up with something new, or has the world gone mad?
YouTube video at the "Verge" link along with a very detailed read. More detail at the SiamPhone link and it appears that it is available in Thailand. Pete

EDIT: So far the device is only compatible with one USA carrier. Seeing that it's sold in Thailand (I think) we may see it linked up with a carrier here in the future.

Smartphones as we know them will be a thing of the past soon. Welcome to the blockchain phone, your own data decentralized where the likes of Google and Apple cant make billions off it.
