Each application requires proof of financial security, so the applicants bank account must have a minimum of 400.000 baht.
But in this case the money was only deposited on the morning the application was submitted, he said, adding that the money was redrawn the same day.
This suggests that state officials may have been complicit, as the move was so easy to detect and so clearly should have set alarm bells ringing, he added" (Quote)
I know, we have had the discussion here before...Where those using corrupt immigration officers to circumvent the law almost felt entitled to use "their way"....Whereas we actually following the law felt a little stupid....
Hopefully this crackdown will scare the immigration officers and bring an end to their corrupt practices....!!

I'll be surprised if the 20,000 baht deal will not still get you anything you want down here in NST. The whole system is corrupt. Can't put your finger in the dyke when there are thousands of holes to plug.

Five immigration policemen transferred
Five immigration policemen at Don Mueang have been transferred pending the investigation into accused bribery.
Immigration police chief Surachate Hakparn posted on his Facebook an immigration official had allegedly demanded 200 baht each from tourists.
An initial investigation found the accusation had ground and he was transferred immediately.
His four direct supervisors were also moved pending an investigation whether they had a role in it.
The five policemen will face serious disciplinary and criminal action if found guilty.
