I am not religious at all, in fact a confirmed atheist! But tonight there has been a documentary on True Cable TV presented by Simon Callow, that follows the origin of Silent Night and how it became to be the Worlds most revered Christmas Carol.(I believe it has been broadcast here previously)
You do not have to be religious to be moved by this Christmas Carol, as it is about a child that could have been any of our own. There are hundreds of renderings on the Internet, although I must admit that I do not agree with the version by John and Anne Barber that has been tacked on to the end of the documentary.
For anyone that has been or is going to Salzburg, there is a museum located in the city dedicated to Silent Night.
