Price comparison FOOD - Hua Hin/U.K

The reverse--I Emailed a Thai lady who has lived in the UK for many years and asked her about the availability of Thai ingredients and their price in the UK. She tells me that availability is not a problem in the main cities and that although prices compared to prices in Thai are high that when compared to other UK food items she finds the prices reasonable.
I know that we have several posters who have lived in the UK with Thai partners, do you agree?

Genuine Thai products are very expensive, but similar items purchased in Indian shops are considerably cheaper. Thais have found alternatives e.g. instead of using papaya, they will use carrot, swede, cucumber etc. If you want a genuine unripe papaya, better visit your bank for a mortgage first.

Of course, for something like Durian, there isn't a foul smelling alternative on planet Earth - you just invest a month's wages if you can't do without.

lol, very true. I'm very keen on rambutan myself. After a decade+ away from the uk, I had to slum it there a while and was faced with this.

The cheapest own-brand 'savings' butter I've seen is something like £1.55.
