Re: Hundreds of foreigners/teachers arrested in nationwide operation X-Ray Outlaw Foreigner
There are many on other threads/forums that are convinced that, since the withdrawal of 'income letters' , using an 'agent' is the way around the regulations. We'll see!The visa issue is also a problem when foreigners are lured into renewing their visas via brokers. Checks by police found their services involve many irregularities, involving forging documents that certify applicants' financial status and false claims of their money records.
A law stipulates that foreigners who want to prolong their stay in Thailand need to have at least 800,000 baht in their bank accounts.
This is exploited by brokers who resort to trickery to make officers believe that the visa renewal applicants have enough money to pay for their living expenses.
They transfer money to their clients' bank accounts in the morning to have the balance checked by officers and quickly withdraw it in the evening once the financial "proof" has been provided, Pol Lt Gen Surachate said.

And why we are, where we now are on restriction on verifying financials for long term stay.
Round 'em all up, overstayer / scammers, brokers, and Buddha forgive, the Imm Officers that accept the obvious bogus paperwork from brokers.
Ban for life, lose broker license (if such a thing), fired from job (not transferred).

Quote from the interview with Big Joke.....
"They transfer money to their clients' bank accounts in the morning to have the balance checked by officers and quickly withdraw it in the evening once the financial "proof" has been provided, Pol Lt Gen Surachate said.
It is not such a serious matter if their clients are decent people, but some might be criminals, he said. He recommended foreigners who need help to contact his agency directly."
In usual Thai style he "forgot" to mention, that for this scam to work immigration officers have to be involved...
But maybe they only accept bribes from decent people...?

I guess if I ring him up, and show him my financial account on my laptop, monthy direct deposits, that will verify my income, and I won't need the 400k or 800k sitting idle for a few months every year.
Or if a bit shy on the financials, that police report or lack of any, record, since a nice guy, then we can overlook the financials, since been here so long and been a good boy.
They talk as if anyone believes anything they say. Or that it's applicable to any aspect of our lives.

In another article in today's Bangkok Post it states that a world wide poll shows that Thais are the least informed people in the world. No argument from me.

They can go to the US, millions of illegal there.
What do they do with them after they're arrested?
If deported do they have to pay their own fare?

Good to see Thailand still has its priorities in order. Illegal rogue bandit outlaw teachers, such a scourge. No worries about the meth heads driving like nutballs killing innocents in their pickup trucks, if 'big joke' put half as much effort into policing the roads instead of getting a hard on about a few visa overstayers Thailand would quickly drop down from the top of that list of most dangerous countries in the world to drive in.

This new Immigration head is a completely loose cannon! Buddha only knows what he will come up with next! Anybody that has been following the saga of the Saudi girl should be aware of just what he will stoop to. I think that in this particular case he was jerked into line from higher up, as he made a 180 degree turn without any explanation.buksida wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 10:41 am Good to see Thailand still has its priorities in order. I have no problem with rounding up drug dealing overstayers, but the widely advertised crack down reflects badly on the rest of us. Why the hell where most of these types allowed entry in the first place?
