The world's best beaches, according to TripAdvisor

Post by PeteC »

Nothing in Asia except one in Bali. Must be all the plastic waste on beaches that used to be pristine. :( I'm not surprised that there is nothing in Thailand, but I am surprised that some in the Philippines weren't selected.

I don't think I've been to a beach in Asia that wasn't covered in trash. It simply isn't a priority in this part of the world.

The CNN Travel interactive Best Beach list has two of them in the Philippines: Puka Beach Boracay, Philippines and El Nido Palawan, Philippines. Alas, I've not visited either.

I spent a week on Boracay at a place named "Fridays" back in November 1989. It was pristine and uncrowded then as not really "discovered" yet. Rode out a moderate typhoon which blew the thatch roof off my bungalow and awoke to see the back end of the storm barreling to the west out over the beach/sea. Quite a sight. Great memories. :D Pete

Thai beaches never impressed me, though haven't seen all the trash other speak of. Can't argue about the beaches of the Americas / Caribbean, well, except for Clearwater beach, as don't know how that would make any list.

Almost lived there, and nice to walk on, as HH beach, well, southern end anyway, but never went in the surf at Clearwater. Not clear, stingrays and jellies always a problem.

The rest not familiar with, but most looking lovely, except the UK one, and really looks like crap, and not a whole lot swimmers in the surf....hmm.

I wonder what the demographics are of those, deciding which are 'the best'.

Oh well.............

Am I being simple? :? Dubai isn't on the list. In fact, could Dubai be on "best beach" list? As much as I like Dubai the beach is quite .... mediocre. Hua Hin beats Dubai when it comes to beach.

My mistake MDMK I clicked on the CNN travel ad list. Which is not the same.

So you are not being simple and agree its not even a real beach in Dubai
