Anyone know what’s happened with Sakura Sushi Soi 94

Drove past this evening and it was wrapped with police tape and a sign in Thai that said No Entry

I don't know what happened, but Restaurant 94 (same owner), next door was also closed tonight.

I was actually going to post that with 2 out of 3 (normally popular) restaurants closed, it was a sign that low season was probably at rock bottom. However, with the police tape closing the entrance, I guess something more sinister is afoot.

The owner is a remarkable young Thai man--I think I have the story--he lived in the US for several years in Chicago and wotked as a a chef in a Japanese restaurant, learnt the skill sand then came and opened a Japanese rest in HH, which Japanese people praise. Then he opened 94 next door then another japanese place that changed to more of a Thai restaurant. I think he owns the hotel next to 94 too Don't know what has happened but Thais hate sucess.

Really? I've always been told it was an old lady that you often see there. Maybe she's his mother.

I have been told - so take it for what it might be worth - that a women died of knife wounds and the police are unsure if a suicide or murder.

I guess the reason for death will be determined by funds available.

Both 94 & Sakura were closed this morning. That’s not normal.

That might explain a simple closure but it wouldn't explain the police tape.

My wife spoke with a friend who knows the owner, and according to her it was a fight between the couple who owns the restaurant. The wife found out that her husband had a Mia Noi so she tried to kill him. The fight ended with him killing her. I have no clue if it is considered a murder or self defense though.

So much for the theory that the Mia Noi is a well accepted part of Thai culture and that the number one wife accepts it easily.
