Phony work permits

Post by oakdale160 »

All the immigration talk reminds me. In BKK where there is, of course, a much larger number of ex-pats here working and having work permits, I met at the British Chamber of Commerce, two guys who were here on phony WPs. One, an accountant, had worked for a hotel chain, cleaning up their books and stopping the thieving (Which made him no friends) when he had finished his 2 year contract, he did occasional consulting for them a few hours a month and the company renewed his WP each year. The other had never really worked but through family business connections was nominally on a British/Thai company's books, did no work and drew no salary (Wonder where that went) but continued to live here. No other financial proof needed and only one visit every year to renew the WP. Nice if you can get it.
