Not a question just an observation - Bees

Post by brianhuahin »

We have for the past few months had some unwanted guests, bees in the garage roof.
My thoughts was to leave well alone, borne out by events.
They stung few gardeners but not me, Ha Ha.
A big tree near by has a robust colony of aggressive red ants. They decided that the bees, for what ever reason, were not welcome and attacked the bee nest.
Result the bees took off, destination unknown. Net result we have no bees.
End of.

Regards
Brian.

There are lots of types of bees but one type is black with a dark orange section on its body and nearly 2cm in length. They are super aggressive and will attack if disturbed and sting - the pain and swelling is much worse than a UK wasp, as I have found out!!

The Bees are probably just getting prepared to move into the garage, so wanted to turf the old tenants out.

These were small about 1/2 cm. They did not bit me. The dog was the subject of their attentions and she was not best pleased. Kept here distance thereafter, wuss.
Re Nereus it was the ants that evicted the bees not vice versa..
I will keep you all informed of any further arrangements regarding domiciles.
