the laboratory of Chula Hospital confirmed that it was infected with a new strain of the corona virus 2019, but the Ministry of Public Health will wait for the results from the Department of Medical Sciences again.
This is exactly what I was about to ask. The only way to confirm this virus as I understand it is a laboratory test.
Even in Australia it has to be diagnosed in a special lab, no hospital has the correct facility.

An Aircraft is a wonderful invention from the viruses point of view. Put hundreds of people in a tight metal box with re-circulated air for several hours.

Thai Rath and the Thai language Daily News are also reporting it as confirmed.

Exactly. And from that article:

"And ask for cooperation from users of social media, asking for opinions Do not blame Chinese tourists for affecting Hua Hin tourism. Because normally no one wants to get sick, "Mr Pallop said

There's not much that makes me angry any more over here but comments like that do.

Tests in the UK on 31 people for the new strain of coronavirus have come back negative, the government has said.

"There are currently no confirmed cases in the UK or of UK citizens abroad, and the risk to the public is low," the Department of Health said.

Hotels in Hua Hin ordered to check on Chinese tourists after confirmed coronavirus case
All hotels in the popular seaside resort town of Hua Hin have been instructed, by the district chief officer, to check the passports of all Chinese tourists and to immediately report to health officials if any of them appear sick and develop symptoms associated with the new coronavirus pneumonia.

In an announcement issued today (Saturday) by Mr. Thanon Panphipat, the district chief officer said that the instruction was a precautionary measure to prevent the possible spread of the virus, because many Chinese tourists are visiting Hua Hin during the Chinese New Year festival, which starts today.

Meanwhile, Prachuap Khiri Khan provincial health officials reported that a 73-year old tourist, from the Chinese city of Wuhan, who fell sick and was admitted to a private hospital in Hua Hin, has been diagnosed with the new coronavirus.

The tourist flew into Suvarnabhumi international airport on January 19th from Wuhan and then proceeded to Hua Hin for a sight-seeing tour, but she fell sick on Thursday night and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment and observation.

Preventive measures are necessary, in light of anticipated rise in the number of Chinese people expected to visit Thailand during the Chinese New Year festival, and Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has called an urgent meeting tomorrow (Sunday) of senior officials, from the ministries of Public Health, Transport and Tourism and Sports to discuss plans to limit the spread of new coronavirus in Thailand.

Government deputy spokeswoman Ms. Traisulee Traisorankul said today that the meeting is expected to define preventive measures, which can be taken to cope with the deadly virus, for submission to the cabinet on Tuesday.

The new case in Hua Hin has brought the total coronavirus cases in Thailand to six.

China coronavirus spread is accelerating, Xi Jinping warns

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51249208

The spread of a deadly new virus is accelerating, Chinese President Xi Jinping warned, after holding a special government meeting on the Lunar New Year public holiday.

The country is facing a "grave situation" Mr Xi told senior officials.

The coronavirus has killed at least 56 people and infected almost 2,000 since its discovery in the city of Wuhan.

The US has announced that staff at the Wuhan consulate will be evacuated on a special flight on Tuesday.

The State Department said that private Americans most at risk will also be able to board the flight to San Francisco.

Meanwhile, UK-based researchers have warned of a real possibility that China will not be able to contain the virus.......

Besides the mutation she says 90,000 have been infected where the article above the video with todays's statements from Xi say 2,000.

I think we can be assured the outside world may not get the full story from the Chinese Gov., unless they are on their knees with not alternative but to ask for massive outside help.

And then there is this:

Sick woman brags about beating border checks during coronavirus outbreak

https://au.news.yahoo.com/sick-chinese- ... 14623.html

A Chinese woman has bragged about beating airport scanners for deadly coronavirus by using a medication to mask the deadly illness.

The woman, who hasn’t been named, left Wuhan in China, where authorities are trying to contain the deadly virus, last year for France, BBC reports.

She posted photos on social media site Weibo of her dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Lyon.
"Finally I can have a good meal, I feel like I've been starving for two days. When you are in a gourmet city of course you have to eat Michelin [food]," she wrote.

"Just before I left, I had a low fever and cough. I was scared to death and rushed to eat [fever-reducing] medicine. I kept on checking my temperature. Luckily I managed to get it down and my exit was smooth."

The Chinese embassy in France has since found the woman and she’s undergone a medical assessment.

She’s said to be OK and won’t require further examinations.

On Sunday, NSW Health said it’s investigating a fourth possible case of coronavirus with confirmation expected on Monday.
“Of the five cases that were under investigation today, four have now been cleared of the infection,” NSW Health said.
“We will update the public immediately should this case be confirmed.”

‘90,000 people infected’
The latest figures reported Sunday morning cover the previous 24 hours and mark an increase of 15 deaths and 688 cases for a total of 1,975 infections. So far, 56 people have died.

The government also reported five cases in Hong Kong, two in Macao and three in Taiwan.

Small numbers of cases have been found in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, the U.S., Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Nepal, France and Australia.

However, a Chinese nurse claims in a video 90,000 people have been diagnosed with the virus.

Speaking in Chinese, with subtitles, she calls for help.
“We don’t care what the government says,” she says.
“I will tell you through social media. Everyone, please donate masks, glasses and clothes to Wuhan.
“Please help us. Please donate disposable goggles, disposable masks and disposable clothing. Currently our resources are not enough.”

According to some reports, during the first week of this outbreak, the Chinese government put more effort into arresting journalists for reporting about it than they did in making any kind of medical response.
