The National Health Commission of China, in its February 14 official report, deducted 108 previously reported deaths and 1,043 previously reported cases from the total in Hubei Province due to "repeated statistics.
Died 1,489 (18% of cases with an outcome) Keep an eye on this percentage.
I said to watch that % which started off a few weeks ago at around 50%
If figures are to be believed then that has dropped to 16% since this morning!

The Westerdam has been denied permission to berth at Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi because most of its passengers are from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, and China is dealing with an outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19, he said.
Fact check:

Most of it's passengers are from US (344), Canada (142), UK (67) followed by The Netherlands, Germany, Australia.

There were 18 from Hong Kong, 1 each from mainland China and Taiwan.

The ship had been at sea for two weeks so had in effect been quarantined and no cases discovered despite regular health checks. After arriving in Cambodia checks were made on 20 passengers who had some illness symptoms. All came back negative. Passengers are expected to disembark today, Friday.

The majority are making their way back to their own countries which entails transit at BANGKOK. Thai authorities have no problem with that. So why block the liner in the first place. A good PR opportunity missed.
Equivalent retaliation time. :banghead: The article below denies it, but for sure Cambodia by accepting the ship made the Thais lose face. Now, the transit passengers are those who suffer with needless "Wuhan arrival" style screening In Bangkok. They were already screened in Cambodia when they disembarked. I guess Cambodian methods are not adequate or trusted?

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen personally greeted the passengers with handshakes and bouquets of roses as they stepped off the ship and boarded a waiting bus.
As I've said. The ship had been effectively quarantined after spending 2 weeks at sea. As expected, no sign of the virus onboard. The pic of Hun Sen greeting the passengers with not a mask in sight will get up the nose of the authorities here.

There is a copy of the passenger list on line and apart from 18 from HK only 1 from China and 1 from Taiwan.

And now it seems that Thailand is going to make a big publicised examination of everyone passing through BKK. :banghead:

Unbelievable!

Yes, seems like someone is hell bent on plunging a dagger over and over again into tourism here. You think people forget things like this and don't pass it on to friends and family, and from there it goes global. Idiots.

The problem with a country like China is that there is nothing but opaque action everywhere. Anyone who thinks we are all being told the truth about this cronovirus is deluded. They are doing there usual fascist control the narrative at all costs regardless of anything MO. The fact that Wuhan is the location for the only level 5 bio-hazard facility in China is also highly suspect along with the reports that the virus was stolen from Canada and imported to China so they can do their usual intellectual theft nonsense/research etc. Looks like this is all a mess of there own making but it is worrisome that they have take such extreme measures whilst playing down the seriousness of the virus ...doesn't add up.

We will see in the next month what the real deal is as it looks like the Chinese are scared stiff of it and seems like we are not being told the truth on this one. They might have finally been caught out by their own nasty underhand operations ...poetic justice maybe on the way for them. Hopefully this really wakes the Chinese people up ...can hope.

SF - Not seen you for a while, glad to see you :thumb: ... The Chinese Government have always been..... well, somewhat lying barstewards (SARS, Chinese expansion) and the Coronavirus is certainly going to be no different . You also have to remember that whilst the population doesn't have a voice as such, it's also brainwashed. The LHG visited family several months back (pre-Coronavirus) and was literally treated as a spy - I and her time in the UK have apparently turned her mind against China! This from extended family and supposed friends - now, the LHG simply agrees with them (or doesn't give her opinion). Close family have been to the UK (my nephew at university in Swansea), so understand, but this is a worrying point. The elder generation, MIL especially, are not well educated and fully trust "the system".

In the UK, I'm far more trustful (if not wary) of the government, but the majority our younger generation (IMHO) are certainly lacking in IQ, education and any specific knowledge (or interest) on current events.

Apologies, I'm "Twattling on"....

Is that a worldwide figure or just China?

The SARS epidemic killed 774 people worldwide.

858 MERS-CoV associated deaths have occurred since September 2012.

And over 1500 WuFlu deaths.

Still way short of the 60k plus Flu deaths.

The reference may be to H1N1 which has killed more people than SARS, MERS and COVID-19 combined.

For comparison, seasonal flu typically has a mortality rate below 1% and is thought to cause about 400,000 deaths each year globally.1 day ago
CDC reports that most flu activity so far has been caused by Influenza B/Victoria viruses, which typically make an appearance later in the season. However, Influenza A (H1N1) is increasing in proportion in some regions, CDC notes.
Flu activity is currently being caused mostly by influenza B/Victoria viruses, followed by H1N1 viruses and H3N2 viruses. It is unusual for there to be this much influenza B activity at this time of year
Influenza 'B' is what we know as 'seasonal flu'. H1N1 is influenza 'A'.
