If you believe the bullshit stats the state are feeding us. Thailand has had the most visitors from China since the outbreak began, all other countries have imposed restrictions. Thailand is still letting them in - the simple math alone should be enough to raise alarm bells.

Thailand, like China, has been trying to cover it all up to protect its precious economy - I wouldn't be surprised if numbers here were in the hundreds. But of course they'll never release such details, what is being reported is what they are telling us - its not necessarily accurate as the media is constantly under threat.

Coronavirus: Fake news is spreading fast
As the coronavirus - or to be precise Covid-19 - spreads around the world, getting accurate information about the disease becomes ever more important.

And in the social media age, that puts a heavy responsibility on the likes of Facebook and YouTube.

These are the platforms that billions now rely on for news and they are already providing fertile territory for those wanting to spread misinformation. On Facebook, it is in groups opposing vaccines and those campaigning against 5G mobile phone networks that scare stories appear most likely to take hold.

New article off the newswires this morning.

Dog Found to Have ‘Low Level’ of Coronavirus in Hong Kong
By Dominic Lau
February 28, 2020, 7:49 AM GMT+7

he pet dog of a coronavirus patient in Hong Kong has been found to have a “low level” of the virus, the Hong Kong government said early Friday.

The dog tested “weak positive” for the coronavirus, the city’s agricultural and fisheries department said in a statement, without giving further details. Officials will carry out further tests to confirm whether the dog has really been infected with the disease, or if it was a result of environmental contamination of its mouth and nose.

Much is still not known about the virus that is spreading around the world after emerging in central China late last year. It is thought to have transferred to humans from bats and has been shown to spread in a number of ways, but the Hong Kong agricultural department said it doesn’t have evidence that pet animals can be infected, or be a source of infection to people.

Coronavirus Likely Began With Bats, an Omen for Next Epidemic

If confirmed, the dog would be the first case of a pet catching the coronavirus amid a global outbreak that’s now infected more than 82,000 people and claimed more than 2,800 lives.

The dog is being quarantined at an animal facility, the Hong Kong government said. The department strongly advised that pets of confirmed virus patients also be put under quarantine.

Israeli scientists: 'In a few weeks, we will have coronavirus vaccine'
Israeli scientists are on the cusp of developing the first vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to Science and Technology Minister Ofir Akunis. If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available in 90 days, according to a release.

“Congratulations to MIGAL [The Galilee Research Institute] on this exciting breakthrough,” Akunis said. “I am confident there will be further rapid progress, enabling us to provide a needed response to the grave global COVID-19 threat,” Akunis said, referring to the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

For the past four years, a team of MIGAL scientists has been developing a vaccine against infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), which causes a bronchial disease affecting poultry. The effectiveness of the vaccine has been proven in preclinical trials carried out at the Veterinary Institute.

What we will have now, at least three countries and maybe more bickering about whose vaccine is the best? I can feel it coming.

The timing estimates in the article contradict each other.
Once the vaccine is developed, it will take at least 90 days to complete the regulatory process and potentially more to enter the marketplace.
If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available in 90 days, according to a release.
I wish those guys all the luck in the world, but it does contradict what most of the scientists around the globe are saying. 1 year to 18 months seems to be agreed by most.

I know you've positioned yourself as the forum virologist but most articles are contradictory in some way or other as nobody really knows what we're dealing with here.

Exactly. I can only go on what I've read and heard and there are many stories, theories, reports that contradict each other. I tend to go with the majority of 'expert' opinions. When a report such as this one blatantly contradicts itself, then it has no credibility.
I've hardly set myself up as the 'forum virologist', but I have lots of time on my hands and I read a lot. I do give an opinion(s) but only based on what I've read.

I saw the costs for getting covid-19 tested at Public Hospitals earlier. The costs ranged from 5 to 13K. Could this be why there are so few confirmed cases in Thailand?
