Sage Bar on 102 are the 1st Tuesday of each month.

King Bar on 2nd Monday of each month.

Others come and go, but I think those 2 are the regulars at the moment.

It always surprises me when bars let it slip away when it draws big crowds. JW used to get up to 8 teams, good business. I have one beef, when the bar continues to play music during the quiz, for "The other customers" meaning the bar staff.

Been to the last two at Sage, and the last one at King Bar. Great draw at each one. The hosting venues definitely make money.

Thanks
I seem to remember the London bar in Soi 94 having one as well, before they moved.

I know there is a regular one in Cha Am every Monday as well. But it's a bit far to travel if your having a drink..

It's surprising there are not more, when you think of the amount of bars and as Rock Star says, it must bring in more custom.

There are more, but it is not possible to tell you when e.g. 19th Hole has occasional quizzes, but difficult to work out periodicity.

The biggest problem is finding quizmasters - good ones are very hard to come by. They have to aim their questions at a level that will keep all teams interested. Then they often encounter smart arses who know everything, and will argue every answer. It sometimes get very nasty, and I've even seen the smart arses want to throw blows at the quizmaster. What are they playing for? A free beer at the end of the night. Putting together a quiz takes hours of research - if the reward is an abusive audience, what is the point?

periodicity.
Wow, BB. Very impressed by your use of sesquipedalian phraseology!... lol.

Seriously, though, until a few years ago, I used to act as quiz master on a regular basis. It did take several hours knocking a good quiz together, but I enjoyed it. Plus we were making money for a local 'special needs' school. It does, however, get very frustrating when you come across a smart arse who will question the answers. It takes the shine off all the effort you've put in.

Yes, I too used to do the quizmaster bit many years ago when I lived in Eaglescliffe - a thankless, time consuming task that often goes unnoticed by the quizzers.

I know this is slightly off topic but I've been playing this site for years now https://www.funtrivia.com/

There's masses of stuff to do on it but I limit myself to the "games" section where there are hourly competitions and daily stuff as well - set to USA time. You'll be up against others and against the clock as well if you want. Points awarded, rankings given etc etc. I find that against the clock is more fun, with the "Word Wizard" hourly game being the most frustrating and competitive. Christ, there are some really quick and accurate players who I manage to beat just once in a blue moon.

Sad, isn't it but I find it fun when I've got a little bit of time.

For anyone who's interested, I've just looked at my profile and I joined in February 2011, I'm on level 107 and am ranked 558th out of over 2,000,000 players. My quiz accuracy is 67.4% which I reckon is pretty dismal but as a Brit I find that the site throws googlies at me with dodgy questions regarding US Presidents and other questionable stuff (I'm not trying to be political. Just admitting my ignorance of N. American stuff).

So, back to topic. If you want to improve your quizzing skills in a competitive environment, the above site is worth a look at. You can upgrade to "Gold Member" which costs a bit of money and I've never bothered with that as I think I spend enough time on there anyway.

Good luck.

Oh, I've just noticed that you've got to sign up to get to the "Games" section which will appear on the top menu afterwards. It's free.

One reason I stopped going to the quizzes at JW's was one particular obnoxious quizzer who had the innate capacity of questioning even the most basic questions.

I enjoy trivia and so enjoy the quizzes. In EVERY one I learn something interesting that I did not know. Also what you learn in a quiz tonight will turn up again in another quiz months later. I also have spent some time researching sublects that I did not know anything about to ready myself for the quizzes--The Planets and Greek Mythology being two that I can think of.
