China Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Post by Dannie Boy »

I was brought up in the time of “the early bird catches the worm” and as there’s little to do in the evening, it’s a case of early to bed, early to rise!!
Sorry for drifting so back to the serious stuff

New local Covid cases at 107, total 934
The Public Health Ministry on Wednesday reported 107 new local cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), raising the total to 934 with deaths unchanged at four, blaming the spread mainly on partygoers.

Dr Taweesin Wisanuyothin, spokesman of the ministry, said the new cases were divided into three groups.

The first group comprised 27 people who were in contact with previous patients or attended the venues of previous patients. They included four people from boxing stadiums and an inter-provincial bus driver.

Five others were from entertainment places - a visitor, a singer, a receptionist, a musician and an entertainment venue owner.

Fourteen others had been in contact with previous patients, including a vendor, a student, a taxi driver, a prison inmate and a policeman. Four others had attended religious ceremonies in Malaysia and they lived in the southern provinces of Songkhla and Yala.

The second group of 13 consisted of six returnees and foreigners - from Britain, France and Germany - five who were in crowded places or worked with foreigners, including a cashier, and two doctors who treated a patient who initially withheld the information that he had visited a boxing stadium.

I was in Tesco just before lunch time today and saw the same - shelves full (and/or being re-stocked) everything calm, most people buying no more than a usual amount of stuff - as were we. I did see one woman wearing nitrile gloves and probably a majority (though by no means all) wearing masks.

Thailand’s rich and famous sent their kids to quarantine in Hua Hin where they held parties and caught the virus

That story was also related to me by my daughter in the UK. So it's gone 'international'.

Prince Charles has tested positive. He's 71 and virtually impossible tracking where he picked it up due to the amount of official engagements he's attended.

I am in the UK now, we returned last week, looks like we got out just in time, judging by the chaos in getting flights booked right now,

I am in North Yorkshire and it does seem to be taken seriously where I am.

The supermarkets and local smaller food stores have people outside instructing customers to stand well apart, and its one customer in only when one customer leaves.

The buses are more or less empty, and the roads are very very quiet, mostly delivery trucks and pharmacy deliveries, its a paradise for cyclists and joggers.

The local restaurants are all shut but many offer a phone in takeaway delivery service.

The Doctors surgery is shut, and appointments are conducted by phone or video call,

These are very strange times, so stay safe everybody.

It looks like regional responses vary if you look at ahandpatsy's previous post earlier today. North Yorkshire though, not really a big town county(no offence intended). Not sure where ahandpatsy is reporting from.

I think you'll find the problem is more in the big "towns" and cities, however we in Wales also have had huge issues with countless people (Muppets) heading to the beaches and scenic spots like Snowdon the latter being chaos on the weekend. FFS, keep travel to a minimum! Nobody is escaping the effects of the Coronavirus, however these selfish low IQ feckers are only making matters worse.

I'm very near South Yorkshire and it's definitely being taken seriously here. I walked into town to pick up a prescription on Monday and there was hardly a soul to be seen.

I live in wolverhampton pretty close the m54 all local shops open but chippy and cafe shut. 2 industrial estates near me and not one unit has stopped working. Buses empty agreed but main roads still full or cars or trucks or vans. Work vans mostly have 2 blokes in them. I think its the thing about everybidy goung to work that bugs me. However my thai gf drive around near her salon on soi 88 and said most shops still open just no customers. The drive to keep earning money overwhelming i guess

The irony being that these Brits heading to North Wales and the Highlands of Scotland in the main wouldn't give a flying feck about the fate of Wales or Scotland in normal times. St George flag waving morons!!! :duck:
