After quitting your job, what visa?

Post by Sultry »

Okay, here is the deal : Sometime in the future, I plan to quit my job, move to Bangkok and get a job there. At the mo, I have a work permit and non-immigrant B visa.

However, I'm wondering what will happen to my visa after I quit my job. I know I have to hand in my workpermit within 5 or 7 days of resigning. But what about my visa? Will it still remain a non-immigrant B or will it immediately become a tourist visa?

I'd greatly appreciate any info that you could give me on this.

I've done this three times, you'll need a form called a TM something from immigration that cancels your work permit. The visa is interchangeable to another non B when you apply for your next work permit so you wont have to leave the country as long as the gap between the two jobs isnt that long. You'll also need all your tax documents from the previous job (Por Ngor Dor 91)

Sorry I can't give specifics, they have moved the goal posts so many times on this one so I'd suggest popping into the Hua Hin immigration and asking the helpful folk in there.

I've had 2 expats return to there home countries.

Upon surrnedering of the Work Permit (which we always did promptly on the last official day of employment), both were given 7 day stamps.
We never questioned the situation, or sought something differnt as it suited our needs anyway.

I've known a couple of people in the same position as Winkie. They got the 7 day stamps.
You could then leave the Kingdom, go to Penang and get a 90 day tourist visa, renew for 1,900 after 60 days and get the extra 30 days.
As far as I know, you can have unlimitted renewals?
