Well in Udon Thani it hit 106f on Tuesday and 110f on Wednesday.
Incidentally Laos is reporting no Covid cases for 22 days (Vientiane Times)
Maybe keen to open the border with Thailand ??

WTF? Its the middle of hot season, and over 40 degrees here yesterday! As for Thailand's numbers, they're utter bullshit because they've tested less than 0.4% of the population so have no idea how many infections/deaths there are.

Anyway, back to NEWS, we have a weather thread.

May 17 target for shopping centres to re-open
The rumours have been flying since this week’s cabinet meeting about the next raft of re-openings as Thailand’s economy starts to plod back into gear. Now, after a meeting yesterday of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, there’s general consensus that shopping centres and retail stores will be able to re-open on Sunday, May 17. Of course the caveat is that, between now and then, there is no resurgence of the virus in Thailand.

“The next stage of relaxation will begin on May 17 unless the number of new Covid-19 cases soars,” according to Taweesilp Visanuyothin, the CCSA spokesman.

Thai PM Prayut Chan-o-cha discussed the next lot od re-openings with the CSSA yesterday. The committee will collect information about the proposal until next Tuesday’s cabinet meeting and make an announcement next Thursday.

I think it's going to be at least autumn for most European countries before they allow non-essential long distance travel. France has said they were thinking about October 30th and Germany has mentioned similar ideas.

Steve g. Where did the france and germany october info come from. Not saying its fiction. Just interested. I would be gutted and have been clinging to a july visit to thailand

They're from reports in the European press but no decisions have been made by any country so the situation is fluid. I too would be very happy to get back to my Thai home as well but I doubt it will be happening any time soon.

Anything more specific, i still cant find snything

The Government is preparing for the second period of relaxed measures on 17 May. The hearing process will be in conjunction with the statistical and situational data on 8-12 May. The reviewing of information and implementation process will be on 13 May. The drafting of the guideline for relaxed measures will be done on 14 May. And the possible date to begin the second period of relaxed measures will be 17 May. (Thai PRD)

"It is too soon to say whether we can take holidays. What I can say is that we will limit major international travel, even during the summer holidays."

Provinces ordered to establish Covid-19 operations centres
he governors of all 76 of Thailand’s provinces have been ordered to establish and manage Covid-19 operations centres. Interior Ministry permanent secretary Chatchai Promlert announced the order yesterday. As Thais start inter-provincial travel there is an increased risk of undetected cases moving around the country and setting off another localised outbreak.

According to the order, each centre will be responsible for all levels of administration, including the province, its districts, subdistricts, and municipalities, in relation to Covid-19 matters.

The administrative chiefs, such as governors and district chiefs or deputy chiefs, will be assigned as heads of each level of the centres. Other officials of each administrative body will be assigned to participate in the centres as well.

Thailand has had encouragingly low numbers of Covid-19 infections, with single-digit daily increases for a week, but health officials warn that because the percentage of the Thai population who’ve been tested remains low, actual case numbers could be much higher.

3,264 per million although not good, is still better than many countries, including Phillipines, Indonesia, Japan, India and others.
Also, you will notice that Thailand are somewhat haphazard in their submission of test numbers. The number of tests often stays the same in those stats for days before being updated.

As I've said before, there is no evidence that the numbers have been manipulated and until there is evidence, then we have to live with the numbers published.
The criticism against Thailand's stats could equally be levelled at many countries.

Drive to cut BTS rider numbers to 25%

Health authorities are demanding the BTS skytrain operator limit its passenger numbers to only 250, a quarter of its 1,000 per train capacity, to ensure safer trips during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apart from adhering to this request, "passengers need to remind themselves to keep a distance of at least one-metre from one another", permanent secretary for transport, Chaiwat Tongkamkoon said on Friday.

The Transport Ministry wants BTS lines, which run through many key crowded districts in Bangkok, to better control passenger numbers after a system error put a halt to some trains on Tuesday, causing people to pack into train compartments during rush hour.

To combat Covid-19, the ministry vowed to keep the BTS and all other modes of public transport on track with social-distancing guidelines.

But Mr Chaiwat admitted to problems over the Blue Line subway, which may not be able to serve a large number of people because the operator cannot increase the frequency of train trips being demanded on safety grounds.

"We need to better arrange service areas from station entrances to train platforms to make social distancing possible," Mr Chaiwat said.

Meanwhile, Pakapong Sirikantaramas, governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) of Thailand, said the agency and Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc, the operator of the MRT, will add six more trains during the morning and evening rush hours. He said the additional trains will make their first stops at the most crowded stations.

However, Mr Pakapong conceded passengers may spend more time waiting due to the MRTA's measures to limit the number of passengers entering its system.

There was never any mention of the figures being manipulated.
Just pointing out that only testing 0.3% of the population will never give the 'Big picture' of what is actually occurring in reality.
