Buying online from Lazada
Re: Buying online from Lazada
Apparently, it was listed as a 'collectible'. Most people, but not all, would understand that. It should have been described better.
col·lect·i·ble
adjective
(of an item) worth collecting; of interest to a collector.
noun
an item valued and sought by collectors.

Nevertheless, Lazada have real size chairs for similar amounts, so it’s not that unreasonable to have expected it to be normal size.

The same thing happens with clothes, several times we've ordered stuff on Lazada that turned out to be children's clothing.

Re: Buying online from Lazada
Well, my item arrived in under 2 days. Western Brand Name, made in China . Instructions 100% in Chinese. However, Mrs BB is 110% happy with it, so that trumps any country of manufacturesateeb wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 9:36 amBig Boy wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 8:44 am I was looking for an electrical item on Lazada yesterday. All that I could see was what I assumed to be Chinese brands that I had never heard of. I went to the filters column and found the following listed:

Not happy buying an unknown brand, I did a Google enquiry - The top 10 XXX available.
The output was a listing with photos of Western brands, all being sold by Lazada. Very misleading by Lazada.
It could well be that all those top 10 Western brands are all made in China. Branded with the Western logos and shipped out. They then brand the same models with Chinese names and ship them out in Asia. I know this was a working practice in Saudi Arabia some years back.
However, it reinforces my argument about Suua's post being almost impossible. China has such a hold on many manufactured goods these days. This is an example of trying to avoid Chinese, that didn't work. I'll bet most manufactured products have an element of China inside.

I've also had electrical items shipped from China with a Chinese language handbook. Usually easily remedied with Google.

At the moment yes....but we have look to the future.

Re: Buying online from Lazada
Many goods from China sold on Lazada are of very poor quality.
Re: Buying online from Lazada
When you buy from a Chinese e-commerce online site, it's bound to host mainly Chinese products. We shouldn't be surprised.
Just curious. Do Tesco still have shares in Lazada or did they sell the lot to AliBaba?

And how did you come to that conclusion? By ordering goods from China that you already knew were poor quality?
From a personal point of view from the 107 items I've ordered from Lazada over the past 4 years I guess that 95% came from China and of that i've had about 4 crappy items.

My wife must be the exception: she reads every word of the instruction manuals. It must be her secretarial training. I'm the one who skips over things. I look at the pictures to figure things out. No pictures? No problem, I give her the manual.

Buying shit direct from China is just laziness and evidence of proper Cheap Charlies. No wonder the world is slow to change.

Re: Buying online from Lazada
That’s a lot easier to practice when you’re living in the UK rather than Thailand - it’s often a case of choosing between a cheap Chinese import or a very expensive western import (2-3 times what you have to pay).

Sorry Dannie, that's the classic mistake that Thais typically make.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 6:51 amThat’s a lot easier to practice when you’re living in the UK rather than Thailand - it’s often a case of choosing between a cheap Chinese import or a very expensive western import (2-3 times what you have to pay).
The Chinese crap is the expensive one as you always have to buy another one not long after the first one fails.
The western import is the cheap one as you invariably buy it once only....what you describe is called a false economy.
