Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I think your best bet is to contact the Thai Embassy to find out what hoops they will need you to jump through first. Then make your own decision based upon what they say to you.

If by "thaiair" you're referring to Thai Airways, remember that they are in the reorganization stage of bankruptcy. To my knowledge there is no assurance what international flights they will operate in the future. You need to stay in close contact with them also.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Although international flights have been given the ok, I can't see any airline jumping through the hoops on the off chance they can fill their scheduled flights with qualified passengers.
First they have to get a permit from the CAAT. Before given permission to land, they have to guarantee that all their passengers are approved under the current requirements.
I reckon that travel will still be on government approved 'repatriation' flights at inflated fares for a while yet.
My daughter has finally got her application in to the Thai Embassy in Washington. She will be notified when a flight is available and what airport she has to make her way to. She's in Texas so another few hundred dollars to fly to NY or Los Angeles and others.

4000 on the waiting list in the UK apparently (from another forum) where a guy's MIL is trying to get back). I know someone in Oz who had all the paperwork needed, were informed they were on a flight and then got bumped. That was weeks ago. Still there now.
Talk is cheap
Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
HHTel, if your daughter does eventually get back to Thailand, please inform the size of aircraft, and occupancy. As you know, I've been watching the 'reported' repatriation flights and their occupancy. If there are 4.000 on the waiting list in the UK, I'd imagine the American list to be a lot larger, They don't seem to be optimizing the flights available.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I'll certainly keep the forum updated. This has been one very expensive nightmare!
The irony is that if she'd have flown a couple of weeks later, the news of the dangers of Covid would have been reported and she certainly wouldn't have gone.
But as Trump says: "We have 15 cases, all recovering and soon to be zero!" Now of course he's saying that 99% of cases are "completely harmless". Should be charged with reckless endangerment!
Sorry, this isn't a Trump thread. I just get so angry.

I believe the next flight from the UK is next week, or maybe a bit later and limited seats are available due to social distancing. As there is no effective media here they get away with this. The bottom line is that they cant cope with bringing everyone back more quickly.Big Boy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 12:42 pm HHTel, if your daughter does eventually get back to Thailand, please inform the size of aircraft, and occupancy. Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
My daughter heard from the Thai Embassy today. They've received her application for a repatriation flight. They've sent her details to Thailand for verification and approval!!!
Once it's been approved by Thailand, they will put her on a waiting list for a flight. They will contact her when a flight becomes available giving her time to get a medical certificate to the embassy so they can issue a 'fit to fly' document.
On top of that, although she's on her husband's insurance she doesn't have a social security number yet so the medical isn't free. Plus, the embassy have told her there is a charge for the 'fit to fly' certificate!
Assuming all that checks out, she'll need to pay for the flight and arrange to get to the airport of disembarkation.
Bloody nightmare!

My problem, and maybe hers, is every covid testing place in California says results in 3-5 days, maybe. But the test has to be 72 hours before leaving. Been calling around and the only rapid results is the antibodies test which can not show you do not have covid!!

migrant, that is great news that you can see a light at the end of the tunnel at last.
One question please......... I've been wondering about Farangs only being permitted to visit the 6 named centres of which Prachuap is not one. I guess when you had to complete the application, you had to say that you would be travelling to Prachuap to be with your wife. Did this cause any problems?

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I have been checking the London Embassy site to see if they have any guidance for those Non Thai's wanting to return to their home but nothing so far nor a response to an email. As my leave will end in October I am beginning to think it will be next year after my next contract that I will be able to return.

Yes, it must be a nightmare, but at least the kids are being taken care of.Assuming all that checks out, she'll need to pay for the flight and arrange to get to the airport of disembarkation.
Bloody nightmare!
But I thought that Bangkok was her intended airport of disembarkation?
