Not for the foreseeable, unless you have family/work ties. I've a friend in the UK who normally lives in Nonk Kai. He's been told by the embassy that he shouldn't plan to get back before November.

This is expected to be the next phase of restriction lifting. Coming to Thailand for pleasure is not even on the agenda yet.

^^ By elite card does it mean elite visa? Elite visa holders can't work. So what is a worker with elite card?

They mean the Thailand Elite card. It gives 5 and 10 year long stay Visa privileges for a price.
No working allowed.

You can have a work permit and a seperate Thailand Elite card.

The relaxation will cover migrant workers in the construction business and food export industry, foreign visitors who co-organise trade exhibitions, foreign visitors in film production crews, and foreign travellers who are members of the Thailand Elite Card scheme, Dr Taweesilp said.

As I've posted earlier, I have a friend stuck in the UK. He normally lives in Nong Kai but doesn't have any family ties or work permit etc, therefore would be classed as a tourist. The Thai embassy in London recently told him not to expect returning before November.
Of course that could change. Nobody knows for sure.
Then there'll be the question of who is allowed in and that will depend upon the covid situation in the country of origin.

Agree. I think forget it until December and there will be lits pressure to get snow birds back. But in the end its all jyst speculation. 2nd spikes may put an end to anything this year

We've got flights and villa booked and paid for late September which are no doubt going to be out the window. Owners of the villa whilst not returning the funds paid have at least agreed to re-scheduling. Thai Airways are playing the "wait and see" game, are an obvious concern.....

Yes, I was hoping to get back home around September but I'm starting to think it could be next year now. This is already the longest period that I've been out of Thailand in 17 years.

I am beginning to feel that I will not return to Thailand this year. Having been forced to return to the UK instead I have tried to follow the instructions on the London Embassy website. They require you to have ASQ booked prior to asking for a Certificate of Entry. The hotels doing ASQ require a flight booking before you can book the room.
So, with a flight booked mid August with Qatar Airways I was able to book my ASQ. All the docs were then sent to the Embassy ( which was I know very optimistic on my part) only to receive a response saying that

“ Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you very much for your email. However, we would like to emphasise that there are no commercial flights allowed to get into the country at the moment. However, the airline would like to sell you tickets that cannot really fly. They may be able to refund it later. It would be better to wait a little more until there are updated.


There will be a repatriation flight. The seat will be allocated prioritise for Thais. Please keep updating further information about the seat available at www.thaiembassy.org./london”

This is no surprise and allows me to reinforce to my wife that that it is not me wanting to stay in the UK. It also unsurprisingly questions the CAAT announcement about flights being permitted in other than repatriation flights.

Fortunately, although I cannot recover the time spent (wasted) finding all this out the bookings are refundable.
Is anyone aware of any scheduled flights arriving in Thailand? It all sounds typically Thai. Perhaps I should join the Egyptian army....

I found out about the repatriation flights from my local Thai embassy and got a seat.
