An interesting phenomena which is beyond theory now, but not an exact science yet. Regardless, it's interesting reading for those with asthma and other respiratory problems. Besides the below article there are many more if you search for "thunderstorm asthma".

Thunderstorms can trigger asthma attacks that need hospitalization, study says

(CNN)The calm before the storm isn't really so calm, at least not for anyone with asthma or other severe breathing disorders, new research shows.

During the days before a major thunderstorm hits, emergency room visits for seniors who suffer from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) rose significantly, according to a research letter published Monday in JAMA Internal Medicine.

Although the study used Medicare data for those 65 years and older, the danger is just as real for younger people with severe respiratory illnesses, said study author Dr. Anupam Jena, an associate professor of health care policy at Harvard Medical School.... (Continued at link)

Doesn't come as a surprise to me. I suspect most asthmatics work out for themselves what affects them, over and above any testing they may have had.
