Good win for Bristol, who didn't deserve to be 6 down at half time.
Almost missed it myself! For some reason was convinced it was on tomorrow - thinking of the Champions Cup Final instead I guess... REMINDER DM :D  : - Exeter vs Racing 92 (@ Bristol  ) Saturday 17/10 KO 16:45!

Thankfully I got to see the full match and what a match it was - and what a start by Bristol! 10-0 up after 3 mins  Through some unforced errors and tight (although fair) decisions not going their way, were down by 10-16 at the break. Played a great second half to turn out worthy winners (32-19) against a good Toulon side (the breakdown especially). Pat Lam really has done a great job with the Bears.

Excellent game from Sheedy who I hope gets a chance with Wales in the Autumn Series.

Silly o'clock or not, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Mind you, I started to have my doubts as they clawed their way back from that initial 10 point battering - the first try in a record breaking 15 seconds (must have had a time lapse here because my TV read 19 seconds as the ball went down :D).

I watched the first half, Bristol`s good start was marred by mistakes which let Toulon back in. I missed the first 20 minutes of the second half and was pleasantly surprised to see Bristol in front, a great win, let`s hope more of the same from Exeter later today. BTW Bristol must have the smallest number 9 in top flight rugby

Another final for Bristol, another late night for BB? Will certainly leave a sour taste for Wasps if it happens....

"Bristol will face Exeter in the Premiership final next Saturday if Wasps record more positive tests for Covid‑19 next week and are unable to prepare for the Twickenham showdown.

Wasps sent their players home on Wednesday after four from the club’s academy, a couple of whom are on the fringe of the first team, tested positive along with three members of staff. An extra batch of tests has been arranged for Saturday before the next official round on Tuesday.

Before the season resumed in August, Premiership Rugby, in consultation with the Rugby Football Union and the Professional Game Board, drew up a contingency plan for every one of the remaining 11 rounds of matches should a club be unable to field a team because of coronavirus.

For the Premiership final, it stipulated the team that finished third in the table would step up if one of the finalists was forced to pull out. The Bears, who lost against Wasps in the semi-final at the Ricoh Arena last weekend and have never played in a Premiership final, clinched third spot on the last day of the regular season by beating London Irish while Bath drew at Saracens and Sale forfeited their game against Worcester following multiple positive tests."

A totally meaningless game, especially if Bears won. Bears have already been beaten by Wasps, even if they beat Exeter and take the crown, they'll only be second best. If Wasps can't play, just give it to the Chiefs, they deserve it.

I know, but in the unlikely event of Bears winning, it would be a complete farce.

No doubt - but what will teams actually make? Played behind closed doors at Twickenham - what's the cost of actually playing there? TV rights (BT Sport)......

All play-off's are IMO - more so this season with respect to Exeter being that far ahead of the chasing pack. That said, I'll still watch it... BT already have my money after all.

Saracens are now demoted and will play next season in the Championship, but will no doubt win promotion (and "bend" the rules yet again)..

[EDIT] Pete's post seems to have disappeared... or was I seeing things. :?

I don't disagree with that either. In my mind, Chiefs are Champions, and the play-offs are just a little knock out competition amongst the top 4 teams.

No you weren't seeing things. I thought I had my facts wrong so dumped it while checking. Thanks for the clarification.

Briefly before I forget: for those asking earlier about the deliberate knock-on/penalty/yellow card/penalty try decision, a perfect explanation from Nigel Owens at minute 70 of the Exeter game.

Wow, what a cracking game! In spite of a slightly farcical end due to the timekeeper, all credit to Owens for sticking to his guns. Can't help feeling slightly sorry for Racing... no, I'm lying, I don't feel in the least bit sorry for them, it was a brilliant and well-deserved win for an Exeter club that has made giant strides in the last 10 years.

The guy is a superb ref - I and many will be sorry to see him go... retirement is coming. The yellow card was massively harsh on Exeter/Thomas Francis, but rules are rules - as for the "Penalty Try", as always great and fair decision by "our Nige". There was no way Hogg/Racing were on for a "definite" try.

Can't think of a better ref, apart perhaps from Wayne... No, I can't do it, even as a joke!
