And it certainly wasn't a letdown - quite incredible photography and thoroughly enjoyable narration by the great man as usual.

Another thoroughly enjoyable series - I'd already seen the originals, but this was a great reminder. Also poignant in a way with regards to "Sahara" and his trip to Zouerat and pictures of the "SNIM Rail line" - very briefly shown, but somewhere I have visited on several occasions and worked for many months. Filmed around 20 years ago, it was not somewhere I thought I would be (and it hasn't changed!). I shall be downloading the full series (Sahara) if I can find....

We all know about the bouncing bomb of Dambusters fame, but there is so much more to his achievements, and probably so much wasted by various governments who thought they knew better. Well worth a look if you have a quiet 40 minutes.

Have seen this one before amongst quite a few others - the man was a genius who didn't get the recognition he deserved... in some respects because he designed equipment and weapons of war not to mention the "Earthquake Bomb" or research into the "Spherical Bomb" which lead to some rather more horrific explosives.

Again, the "Lancaster Bomber" will have the "whatever" brigade burning their bras/Y-fronts/testicles or throwing their "FEMINIZER Pills" away in disgust , however this man played a massive part in the whole lot of us being able to live a life of freedom that we are able to do so today.... Despite many trying to destroy it.

His designs certainly are still are a major part in current aviation - wait for a return of the "Airships".....

Most of what is on Netflix is a few years old, but for documentaries, this doesn't matter. Two I've been watching recently that were worth a revisit are:

She initially grates on the nerves but you warm to her as the series goes on. It was aired in 2014 so the damage that those Chinese dams have done now must be unimaginable.

Just makes me miss travelling all the more.

Two part documentary about some of music's most important pioneers. Not as good as my favourite The Last Waltz, but still interesting.

Watched this last night and was totally engrossed. If you want to know how US politics ended up like it is today look no further than "Get Me Roger Stone" (2017). Stone moulded Trump in his own image.

Have to say I've truly enjoyed many travel documentaries with Simon Reeve - The Indian Ocean being one of my favourites. A likeable presenter and I can relate to many of the countries/areas he's visited.

With all the issues caused by the Covid pandemic, his latest series "Incredible Journeys" just started on the BBC looks back on his travels and the people he's met over the past 15 years. If the first episode is anything to go by, this will be a series well worth watching.

Likewise mate, have been binging on the travel docos since this year will probably be the first in memory that I won't be able to take a road trip somewhere. The heavy political or serial killer stuff doesn't do much for me.

There are two separate ones on Japan on Netflix at the moment (which would have been our destination this year) with Sue Perkins and Joanna Lumley who also did a Trans-Siberian Express trip. Will look for Simon Reeve, enjoyed his previous stuff.

Indeed he has, but must admit there was a couple on your list that I wasn't aware of and will certainly take a look at, so thanks for the heads up!

He's also written several books, only one of which I've read - "Step By Step". It's a mix of his life/upbringing and travels, both of which I relate to in certain levels/experiences. Perhaps this is why I like the guy and his programs etc! It's well worth a read....

He'll certainly be "boyish" to you DM with him being under 50 (just)! But that can be a good thing -unless of course you're looking towards getting that white suit out of the cupboard [EDIT] Wardrobe??!! Dance away.....

Seriously, you should have another look - he's visited some wonderful places and to me, comes across very well. Why not be enthusiastic when travelling the world? 2020 was the first year in 50 that I have not taken a flight, a bus or a train, and I'm not holding out much hope for 2021.

If you are put off by 'boyish exuberance', take a look at any of Steve Irwin's videos. He showed what 'boyish exuberance' is all about. I doubt he lost any of his followers because of it.
