No problem, I stay at a pal's house. Was just wondering about the HH - Petchaburi border since I know the local constabulary are always looking for ways to line their pockets.
The only two road checkpoints that I’ve been through traveling between Cha Am and Hua Hin have been unattended so the risk seems pretty low.

On Monday the 11th I drove between three red districts - Bangkok to Hua Hin via Petchaburi. As I said elsewhere, the road block as you entered Petchaburi provinvce near the first big 'rock' you come to when heading south was unmanned. The 2nd on the by-pass just past the turn off to Cha am was also unmanned.

Continued a theme really, as two days earlier (Sat 9th), drove from Khon Kaen to Bangkok via Korat, so two red areas, without seeing any road blocks, yet alone any that were unmanned.

Outside of Bkk, I don't think the Government actually exerts much authority.

I came through at 4.30 and whilst not stopped there were a few pairs of eyes scanning for the car registrations.

Assume the idea is if you from a hot zone you will be stopped

More than what they've been doing last 2 weeks as far as I can see

Car registrations are not a reliable guide as to where you've come from. Both my cars are registered in BKK.

Don't get me wrong I thought it was pretty poor effort all told considering the situation!

Has anyone had a successful and hassle free trip to Bangkok and back?

My daughters drove from Bangkok to Hua Hin and back and were never stopped. They said that they thought the police were only stopping vehicles with groups of people. I don't know what constitutes a group, there were 3 in the car.

I had to stop for a temperature check on the main highway 4 travelling from the Pranburi towards Petchaburi direction just before it gets to Cha Am - simply a case of my wife and myself winding down the windows, check our temperatures and “Khup Kun Kha” and off we went in less than 5 seconds

Was the truck passing between provinces or just driving around?

Honestly don't know.

But would that matter?

In terms of the discussion, e.g., was anyone stopped between provinces, yes it does matter. If it was just a bunch of kids in a truck bed, not so much. Maybe they were of the same family?

When my wife and I are driving we don't wear masks.

Exactly ... I think we're straying a bit here.

So it seems that provincial borders are not strictly controlled and hassle-free interprovincial travel is possible.

^^ Possible, probable even, but not guaranteed as you never know when someone of self importance will show up with a camera crew and the checkpoint springs into action.
