Beautiful, pristine Pattaya beach in times of Covid with no people at all!

The last time I was on that beach was in 1998 and it was more crowded than that. I was working in Jakarta, Indonesia and we came over for a week to see what was happening in Thailand.

Was there any indication of time of day the video was shot? I was looking at the road - it must be over 30 years since I've seen it that quiet. Were the shutters down on businesses because it was early, or is that the state of Pattaya businesses during the Covid crisis?

Judging by the sky, it doesn’t look to be either particularly early or late, so just very quiet which I guess is not that surprising if there are no tourists. Will Thailand ever recover from this pandemic - not in a hurry, that’s for sure!!

The wife and daughter where there yesterday food shopping and it was like it looks in the video per their assessment.

Chonburi businesses are reopening tomorrow so there may be some increased life starting up soon. All hotels in the entire province are closed though per Gov order so staff can get social security payments. The Gov had to order the closure so SS could kick in.

Yes, that is the response I was expecting. I see what is happening in Hua Hin, so I expected something similar (probably worse) over there.

Been nice to have seen more than about 100 metres of beach. Could have been wild orgies going on further along for all we know!

Actually, in the early days, mid-80s it was unusual to see many using the beach. If people wanted the sea, it was either the bay below Royal Cliff or Jomtien.

Looking at the very long shadows, I'd guess that it's early morning.

There's quite a few other Pattaya/Jomtien videos listed at the end of the one above. Most were taken during various stages of lockdown. Beaches, Sois, Walking Street etc.
