The Nigerian Scam

yes,the scams have been around for many years now.
i've had similar ones to those mentioned here, gold, diamonds etc. problem is there are enough mugs out there that fall for them so they will continue.
on a smaller scale, one which surprised me recently was through ebay.
some guy bought a car for £5,000 (worth a lot more) & when he turned up to collect, no car.just a gang of thugs (foreign!) that beat him up & took the money.
my general opinion of it all is, you never get something for nothing.so when it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.
a fool & his money are easily parted, as they say.

Did this happen in the UK?

Sounds nasty, i know a few folk who buy and sell on Ebay and they always carry the cash for negotiating power and a quick transaction. They say the best place to do business like that is in a hotel lobby or bank.

yes rider, i think it was in northampton.
it wasn't that long ago, maybe a few months or so.
to be honest, travelling to a strange town with £5 grand in your pocket to buy a car from someone you have never met is a little naive.
i have bought many things from ebay, even a car but always had someone travel with me if i felt it necessary.
i certainly wouldnt dream of carrying that amount around with me though, no matter what.
