Hi there y'all

I have a question regarding the Toyota Fortuner and it#s sibling model rgw Toyota Hilux Vigo I hope someone can answer this question to me.

I had seen many times the Hilux Vigo in light Green Silver metallic driving around Bangkok and Hua Hin a lot of Time.
I was wondering why do the people @ Toyota Thailand do not offerThis Light green Silver Netalllic also for the Fortuner?
I would be the first Guy who would buy a Fortuner in this Color!!!!
One Reason my aunt gave me that this color has a difficult resale value if I want to sell it. But franky I don't bleive this reason!
In General the color choices of Car Modells from the diffrent Car manufactures in Thailand are just limited to four to seven of the most popular colors. While in Europe and America there are a wide variety of color options to choose from but why is that so?
If anyone can please help me answer me these questions that would greatly apreciated!

A thanks in Advance

Some of the reasons for your colour question is:

1 - Nowadays most of the car manufacturers are designing most of the interieor and exteriors in the same colour range of the body colour, i.e bumpers, side mirrors, polstery colours, etc...
2 - This is forcing the service centres/stockists, to stock more of the same items in diferent colours, which makes the initial stock buying process for each model, a bigger budget, where most of the stockists don't want invest.
3 - Also in EU and US markets, because of the fierce competiton between the car brands, the manufacturers have to offer a wider range of selection in colours, engine types or even unique models only for EU or only for US markets, that's why sometimes most of the car models in EU or US can't be found in other markets like Asia, Africa or Australia.

As a summary it's market demand and competition based tactics.

I hope this helps.

Understudy, I just had a look at the Toyota catalogue and Fortuners come in five colours: silver metallic, black, beige metallic, dark grey metallic and blue metallic.

I think the blue metallic is the only new color for this year's models. I've seen it and it is close to a midnight blue (unless what I saw was a custom job). Past models were more of a non-metallic sky blue and not attractive to my eye. Pete

Pete, the catalogue shows the shows the old electric blue colour that makes the thing look like a toy, but I saw a Vigo in a very dark blue like you describe so maybe that is a new colour and the catalogue needs updating.

Hi There STEVE G

Now thats proves my point no light green silver metallic unlike its sibling Pick Up model The Hilux Vigo. I would be the first one to buy it in this Color.

I hope the metallic blue was like the one I saw before I went back to Germany crawling down Naresdamri road towards Hilton. just like Pete said! "I've seen it and it is close to a midnight blue (unless what I saw was a custom job)." Now this Color fits more the Image of a Fortuner. Agree with that statement by Pete I do! "Past models were more of a non-metallic sky blue and not attractive to my eye." It is not even unattractive, in my eyes its rightout butt ugly. Those officials from Toyota who though this color would match Thai taste simply have Tomatoes on their Eyes. Sorry y'all for being so blunt aboot this but a color of a car representes the kind of the Poeple who drive it. And I want to be represented by the right color which is light green silver metallic. which they don't simply have :banghead: (cry in dispair)!!!!

Understudy, I know the light green colour you mean, and for some reason that isn't even an option on the four wheel drive Vigos, you can only get it for some of the normal models. It's all a bit strange, the only Vigo that you can get in plain white is a basic two-door. I can't think of a good reason why they can't do the whole range in all colours, unless it has something to do with the extra mouldings around the wheels which are the only difference.

I had a 1996 Toyota Hilux Tiger 4WD LTD model in dark metalic green, UST. Beautiful machine, but no turbo diesel in those days. The gold metalic specs would sparkle brilliantly with a good wax job on it. Alas, I haven't seen Toyota offer that color since that year, on any model. Pete

Pete, a good friend of mine has a Hilux that he bought around about the same time and he’s still using it everyday, they certainly built those things to last. Incidentally I see that Toyota has just overtaken GM as the number one producer.

All Toyota's last, that's why GM is now #2...LOL. As your friend can tell you, passing on some of these two lane highways here is an art without a turbo diesel under the hood. Look, look, plan, plan, rev, rev, downshift, downshift, EXECUTE and pray that the other drivers have a kind heart and the shoulder is wide if you don't make it in time! :D Pete

PS: When the Toyota bodies rust away, the engines go into something else, even long tail boats!

HalloPete

You can tell that literly my Man! a few weeks before I went back to Beerland (Deutschland) I was on the Chao Praya river taking my fathers friends through the Kongs of Bangkok noi and after the trip I took a short look @ the Engines Woa!!! That ain't a boat engine It's a truck engine! with still the Mutsibishi Fuso logo on it. That evenning I was wondering I how in Buddhas Name did they get a Truck engine onto a boat? but after that day I did#t care aboot it anymore

Another question: Are there any good Car body Paint shops which can repaint my Aunts Fortuner in light green silver metallic? I'm trying to convince her to Change from Gold color to light green silver metallic!!!

Pete, I kind of realized that when I give him a lift in my Vigo and he starts to panic everytime I pull out to overtake!
