Proactive measures to test members of the community at the Cha-Am fishing village has resulted in positive test results for 30 individuals, 29 were citizens from Myanmar and one a Thai person.

These 30 detected individuals yesterday (Thursday 15th July) are now isolated with testing continuing in the area.  Under a ‘bubble and sea’ strategy, movement of community members will now controlled with individual isolations required for those tested positive or considered to be at high risk.

Public health officials have also been active to reinforce the need to follow protective measures requiring high levels of hygiene and observance of distancing measures.

When we were registering at Cha Am hospital this morning, there was an elderly Thai man who said he was from that community and was booking his vaccination - I hope he had already been tested for Covid and found negative!!
Hope you kept your distances and wore 2 masks!!

Fairly reliably informed they are awaiting the results of tests on a further 300 people in the area, expect that number to rise soon.

The Governor of Prachuap Province has signed an order on Thursday (15th July) to enhance measures to prevent and control the epidemic of COVID-19 .  This relates to the province being a red zone with high control measures required.
The Order does not include any curfew measures; however the following restrictions now apply:
- Activities or groups are limited to 50 people, including in public places such as parks and beaches but without consuming alcohol until 10 PM.  Round table (Chinese style) dining to ensure social distancing is not allowed.
- Restaurants must close at 11.00 PM without alcohol consumption.
- Places for exercise such as gyms and fitness centers can provide services until 9 PM.
- Sporting events must limit the number of spectators and comply with prescribed preventive measures.
- Department stores, shopping centres can open during normal hours but must limit customer numbers and cannot organise promotional activities or operate arcades, rides or games.

Violations of non-compliance with this order may be guilty of an offence under Section 51 of the Communicable Diseases Act 2015, with penalties of imprisonment for not more than one year, fines of not more than 100,000 baht, or both available.  Non-compliance may also be an offence under Section 18 of the Emergency Decree B.E. 2548.

The Order is effective immediately until further notice.

And this from Governor Cockwomble on Wednesday.

Hua Hin's reopening set for Oct 1

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: The seaside resort town of Hua Hin will be reopened to foreign tourists on Oct 1 it was announced on Wednesday, even as more Covid-19 infections were reported in the province - most linked to a pineapple canning factory.

The much-awaited reopening plan was announced by provincial governor Prompiriya Kitnuson.

He also announced there were 71 new Covid-19 cases diagnosed on Tuesday.

He said 54 were found by active case finding among employees at the Dole pineapple canning factory.

The province had now accumulated 3,658 Covid cases, of which 969 were still under treatment and 11 had died.

Of the province's 1,540 beds arranged for Covid patients at main and field hospitals, 972 were occupied and 568 still available.

Mr Prompiriya said the province planned to reopen Hua Hin, under the slogan "Hua Hin Recharge", on Oct 1 to fully vaccinated foreign tourists, without quarantine.

In the lead up to the opening, the province aimed to vaccinate 100% of workers in the tourism and services sector and 70% of the general population of Hua Hin Municipality by Sept 30, Mr Prompiriya said.

At present, about 8% of the general population had been inoculated with vaccines provided by the government and the private sector.

Hua Hin Municipality had ordered 50,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine for people in its area.

A map outlining "sealed routes" for tourists was being drawn up.

The governor said Hua Hin expected about 1.2 billion baht in revenue to circulate in the fourth quarter (October-December) following the reopening, and about 89,000 workers would have jobs again.

These is the new must have item selling everywhere here. Pulse Oxygen meters, apparently so you can check you don't have covid.

I must hand it to them, there are some smart business people out their tapping into the #1 selling incentive - fear.

As if the self diagnosing hypochondriacs need another gadet.

They are AUD$25 online and come in a range of colours. Might as well buy a few to match your outfit, then you can wear it when you go out.Image

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Regarding the Dole Factory. I read a report in His Hin Today about an accident between a pick up and an elephant on July 15th.

The pick up was "transporting 8 workers form the Dole Fruit processing factory late at night"

WTF ???????

I don't expect an answer to this :D . These patients will already have been recorded as stats elsewhere, so aren't we double counting by adding them to PKK's stats as well? It also makes PKK look worse than it actually is i.e. 36 is still more than we'd like to see, but it is much better than the 50 being shown against us.
