BREAKING: The lockdown and curfew is being extended for another two weeks when it will be evaluated, and then most likely be extended for another two weeks until the end of the month. So from Tuesday to 18th August and then extended again to 31st August.

Starting from 3rd August, there will be 29 provinces in the dark red zone, 37 in the red zone, and 11 provinces in the orange zone. No provinces in the yellow and green zones.

Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Chonburi, Chachoengsao, Tak, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Narathiwat, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachin Buri, Pattani, Ayutthaya, Phetchaburi, Phetchaburi, Yala, Rayong, Ratchaburi, Lopburi, Songkhla, Singburi, Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Saraburi, Suphanburi, and Ang Thong.

Starting from 3rd August, curfew in 29 provinces in the dark red zone is 9pm-4am. It is “forbidden” to leave your residence. Last time it was just “refrain”. No activity with more than 5 people. Restaurants in malls can open their kitchens for delivery only. No takeaways allowed.

The wife just said the news reported Prachuap Khiri Khan is now under curfew and no one allowed out after 9:00 pm. I'm sure there are exceptions but she didn't hear them.

There is an inconsistency in Joelle's post above (not Joelle's fault). The text says that restaurants in malls can only open for delivery service, but the English language infographic says they can open for takeaway. The Thai version of the infographic also says only for delivery service. So - no takeaway.

I guess we will find out tomorrow. Certainly, during the last lock down, restaurants in malls in Hua Hin could do take away and in Bkk two weeks ago, they were doing the same. They had stands by the supermarkets and you could order food from those and then wait for your food. But they couldn't deliver. I ordered a 'buy one, get one free' offer from Scoozi, my favourite Bkk pizza chain.

4,768 (+3) patients are in critical condition, with 1,028 (-16) of them on ventilators.

Note: Yes, the chart vaccinated yesterday doesn't match the printed figures. I've read elsewhere that the printed figures are correct. Part of Pfizer shipment being sent to Buriram, health official says

A shipment of Pfizer vaccines is being sent to Buriram despite the province not being a hard-hit Covid area, a public health official told Thai Enquirer on Tuesday.

The United States donated just over 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine to Thailand to help battle the Covid-19 pandemic as part of a goodwill gesture.

The government said that they would use the doses as boosters for frontline workers who had previously been given the Sinovac jabs – which have proved less effective against the Delta variant of the virus.

However, according to a Ministry of Public Health Official, a portion of the donations has been diverted to Buriram province.

“The permanent secretary is there now and they are shipping some Pfizer doses over, we’re not sure how many,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

“It may be going to frontline workers in the province but the question now is why are we prioritizing Buriram when it is not among the hardest-hit areas,” the health official said.

Calls to the Ministry of Public Health were not immediately answered.

Thailand has seen 604,421 infections & 5,074 deaths since April 1 when the third wave of the pandemic begin with most of the cases centralized around the Greater Bangkok Area.

The country has faced hospital bed shortages and is running low on oxygen as lockdowns have not successfully mitigated the spread of the disease.

Buriram is the stronghold of the Bhumjai Thai party, the leader of the party Anutin Charnvirakul serves as both the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Health
