'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
It's interesting what you say about being charged 500฿ for credit advice. I bank with Kasikorn, but from time to time Wise send my money via Bangkok Bank. When that happens I have to go to Bangkok Bank for my credit advice - always free.
Last year, I trusted my bank to prepare what I needed for Immigration. As usual, the bank put it inside an envelope, and I didn't check. When I got to Immigration, there was no statement. Initially, they were insisting on the statement. The I/O continued processing everything else. When she'd finished, she went and spoke to the main man. Because my bank book showed every transaction, he agreed it would suffice for last year only. I was told if I didn't produce a statement in future, I would be refused.
Unless you like visiting Immigration, my recommendation would be don't try to cut corners, just give them what you always give. However, if you get away with it, please let us know.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
My understanding from talking with my bank is that credit advice receipts are free if requested monthly or even quarterly. My original plan as to do exactly that, collect them monthly or quarterly for free, then assemble a years worth in my immigration renewal package. I even set a pop up reminder on my phone, but because my bank branch is in the north part of town (Boonthavorn) where I don’t often go I quickly lost track of it and ended up needing to request receipts outside the free window. The fee of 500 baht was for 12 months worth, perhaps if I was requesting fewer than 12 the fee would be less, I don’t know. My fault entirely, I could accumulate the credit advice receipts for free if I scheduled my time and multiple bank visits better.
This last year I tried requesting the credit advice receipts from the Blue Port branch, but they told me I must go to “my” branch to request them as they could not service my request at Blue Port branch as my account was registered as belonging to the Boonthavorn branch. After doing as requested and getting the immigration exercise behind me, I visited my Boonthavorn branch and tried having my existing savings account transferred to Blue Port branch but learned the only way to do that was open a new account at Blue Port, then close my Boonthavorn branch account. Because my account number is tied to my USA financial institution international bank wire instructions (which was extremely difficult to set up remotely from Thailand) changing to a new account number is not an easy option for me. I’m caught in a bit of a Catch-22 so I’m currently forced to remain with Boonthavorn branch.

I have a friend who uses Bangkok Bank, and also uses the income method for Immigration. He has an arrangement whereby his credit advice's are automatically e-mailed to him each month. At least, he made that arrangement early on after Immigration decided to use the credit advice method. I don't know if they still do that, but it must be worth asking.
I know what you're saying about Bluport branch. The first time Wise got it wrong, I initially asked them for a credit advice. They were so obnoxious to me because I never had a Bangkok Bank account.

When I tried to open a local Bangkok Bank acct., next to MV, the mgr. was very cordial and joking. Then he put my name into the computer and found that I had previously had an acct with BKB in Bangkok under my old passport number. He said, because I had a new passport ( the old one had expired) he couldn't open a new acct. After that he was cold and rude, I gave him the middle finger and left.
Next, I went to K bank and they wouldn't open an acct. because it was to close to my visa renewal date. Then I went to SCB and the manager bent the rules, opened an acct. and all was well.
Will Thailand ever leave the 19th. century?
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I forgot to update my recent experience of renewing my AO visa.
I have always been pretty confident about supplying all that was needed, but was conscious the IO seemed to spend half his time returning unwanted copies. And like others here, I only like to provide the minimim data necessary.
However, with various comments made here about providing a full copy of the passport and P60's in addition to the new for me insurance docs, for the first time, I thought I would pass everything through the people downstairs first.
I was sent to get a photocopy of the COA form in my passport, which was a first. And by the time I got back, everything I needed had been tied together with a crocodile clip. The rest had been returned to my folder.
So the bundle I presented to the IO consisted of the following:
Passport + copy of photo ID page
Bank book
Blue Book
TM7 with photo attached
Copy of COA
Bank letter (pro-forma)
12 months credit advice detailing international payments
Full copy of Bank statement for previous 12 months (Bank book not kept up to date)
Copy of insurance certificate.
Not submitted (removed by chap downstairs)
2x copy of TM7
P60
12x pension statements (I always take these just in case)
Full copy of passport
Further copy of passport ID page
Further copy of insurance certificate
Full insurance policy
I have never previously provided a copy of the COA form in my passport and although I have always taken it, I have never been asked for my blue book.I wasn't this time either, well not by the IO.
When I presented myself to the IO, he dealt with everything quickly and efficiently and my only other involvement, was to add my phone number to one of of the documents. No extra data was requested and I was soon on my way.

Certificate of address I would guess.

Good question, I’m wondering the same thing. Perhaps this is a reference to the departure card ?

What happens when the departure card finally falls apart? Will we not be able to depart?
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I lost it once and got a new one from Immigration Hua Hin.
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I lost it too when I was living in Korat. I went to immigration and they made me go to the Police to report the loss, then I returned to immigration with the loss report from the Police. After which, immigration copied the TM6 number from their computer records onto a new TM6 and stapled it to my passport. These people are nuts. Then I found my lost TM6.

They just love their power, once I had a copy of my passport page on a piece of paper that was less than A4 size and it was refused
