Corned Beef Hash was a weekly meal in my youth, not had for years so will have to try again!! Has to be had with HP Sauce though!!![]()

Oh definitely tinned Corned Beef - I've not known otherwise. Never heard of "Pan Yan Pickle", but love Branston - with cheese, not Corned Beef...Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 5:53 amPretty sure he’ll be talking tinned corned beef.handdrummer wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 3:42 amAre you talking about corned beef in a tin or the slices of meat?pharvey wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 11:05 pm Corned Beef (COLD) and onion sandwiches always a favourite - and one up on SPAM! As a young boy, when we stayed at our grandparents house we would often have a corned beef and “Pan Yan” pickle sandwich for supper. Pan Yan pickle ceased production many decades ago, so it was then over to Branson pickle but still an enjoyable snack.
I Googled Pan Yan pickle and it seems that they tried to revive it back in 2008 when the “pratt” Chris Evans made a radio broadcast to try and find the recipe (one of the few good things he’s done). It was a spicy pickle and not to everyone’s taste, by I recollect enjoying it, even though I also enjoy Branson pickle (although like HP Sauce, not quite the same taste these days as it was 50+ years ago).pharvey wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 6:02 amOh definitely tinned Corned Beef - I've not known otherwise. It didn't turn out badly. You have to heat the pan a bit then put in the slices directly from the fridge. It crisps up on the outsides which keeps it from falling apart. It didn't do much for the flavour though, tastes the same as when cold. One thing that surprised me was that there wasn't any grease/oil. I was expecting to have a half a pan full like when you cook bacon or even Spam, none at all.
Which in the UK would be called salt beef - normally brisket.Michaelaway wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:33 pm This is U.S. corned beef; it's amazing.

Which whilst fairly good IMHO, isn't canned...... And far and away from what I know as Corned Beef, or would be used in any of the recipes..Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:59 pmWhich in the UK would be called salt beef - normally brisket.Michaelaway wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:33 pm This is U.S. corned beef; it's amazing.
