Re: Electric Cars
i had hoped that ASEAN and trade agreements would reduce import duties. Wishful thinking.

Simply highlights the lack of any gov't incentives for alternative energy sources and use of.
Oil & fossil fuels are still king with the corporate elite, with way too much control.

Re: Electric Cars
We're heading in the right direction with EV's IMO, but we're a long way off yet with regards to batteries - beit longevity, reliability or materials of construction.
Costs in the UK at least are completely prohibitive... Santa will hopefully be sticking to his reindeers regardless of the methane

One thing is almost guaranteed, the developments in battery technology over the next 10 years will far exceed anything we’ve seen to date - get ready for the battery revolution!!

Re: Electric Cars
As lindos mentioned earlier..... 17K for new batteries though! I've rebuilt very good engines for a fifth of the price!!
Can't say I'm going for an EV just yet.... Though I was tempted!

Re: Electric Cars
It’s going to take a number of years and a lot of investment before electric cars become firm favourites with everybody if this remains typical.

Re: Electric Cars
If a government (Kalifornia par ex) mandates EV's, that will put an end to petrol engines.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 1:51 pm It’s going to take a number of years and a lot of investment before electric cars become firm favourites with everybody if this remains typical.

I recall reading, about a year ago, that CA. wants all gas (petrol) cars off the road by 2025.
That should cause a mass exodus from the state that is already losing residents each year.

Re: Electric Cars
Many Governments are mandating the ending of production of ICE cars from 2030 - some before, some after, but if the infrastructure isn’t there for EV’s then they’ll be a significant pushback from the motoring public - how would you feel if there were insufficient petrol stations to be able to fill up your gas guzzler?
Having driven a PHEV for the past 11 months, I’m an advocate of EV’s but if I had to rely on public charging facilities that were few and far between (and often not working), I’d be very unhappy.
