My thinking was, yes, your timing was impeccable, and you turned up when they either had an incomplete page of appointments or had received a cancellation.

Don't do yourself down. Your information was spot on, on 15th January.

Well this is all very strange!!

Last week I was looking for information regarding all this, and thanks to the information from Jack Batty and FarangJon I decided to get all the paperwork in order for my wife to renew her driving license at Pranburi

This is where it gets strange, My farang wife arrived at Pranburi today, at approximately 12:55 i.e. just after Big Boy's daughter entered the building!

My wife phoned me about 2:30 pm to say it was all sorted, :D she had her nice new shiny 5 year licence!

She did NOT have an appointment.

She did NOT watch the video on-line, and of course did not have the certificate for that.

She was 19 days away from her license being expired for a year. so if she had been given an appointment, she would have been back to starting all over from scratch, as her license would have been expired longer than the 12 month "grace" period.

It would be nice to think that common sense prevailed and they realised that my wife would be out of time for renewing her license if they gave her an appointment in March.

What would be the chances of common sense prevailing? .... :duck:

Anyway, one very happy and relieved husband here!

My daughter has just completed the e-learning thingy in preparation for 8th March. She says it's no longer a video showing how to kill fellow road users, it is actually a test where you have to answer questions before being issued a QR Code and certificate, which has to be presented when you renew your licence. My immediate question to her was, is it in English as well? She didn't know.

Does anybody know please?

As it's done at home, I guess we can pay a Thai to do the test for us :run:

The above experiences seem to indicate that they have one procedure for Thais and one for foreign applicants?

It’s in English. Co-hosted by an Australian guy and a Thai lady who speaks impeccable English. There is also a short, entertaining video beforehand, which is in Thai with English subtitles.

You could be benevolent and say that, OR just say the truth; that they are a bunch of clueless idiots!

Not that I particularly want one, but out of interest I clicked on the above link to see what you had to do to get an IDP, but for the life of me I couldn’t make any progress - obviously it could be me, but anybody else try and succeed?

Thanks but it looks like you have to be a member
Is there anywhere in the area to be able to physically get one ?
