Not sure that's correct. I can't see anywhere that states a second night in a hotel

As far as I can see the rules are the same as before
That's what is said in today's press conference
Yes I agree just not in any of the articles posted. Just seen thaiger video confirming what was said. So on day 5 go to hotel. Test 8 am. Wait until say 6pm for green light Pay thousands of BAHT for privilege. Good grief.

Test & Go quarantine-free entry to resume Feb 1

It's a moot point now but they don't actually say you have to go to a hotel on day 5. But accepted it's been reported elsewhere. Is it for the income ?

I don’t really think anybody on the Forum will have the insight to be able to answer that (with any degree of accuracy)

Not sure if anyone can answer this. I've been trying to find the rules for a returning Thai national. When 'test and go' restarts 1st Feb, the only concession for Thais appears to be that there is no requirement for insurance.
Everything else appears to be the same as for a foreigner. i.e. 'Thailand Pass', pre-booked hotels, paid in advance PCR tests.
Does anyone know any different?

I think you’re correct - the attached is a graphical presentation and unfortunately in Thai, but I’m certain it’s similar to the rules for foreign visitors other than the insurance Image

Thanks guys. Pretty much confirms what I've found.

It was a damn sight cheaper when everyone had to go into quarantine for a couple of weeks. Fed and watered in a nice hotel and for Thais it was free!!

Why was is free for Thais? Mrs GN travelled back earlier this month and costs seemed to be the same as if I was to travel back.
She quarantined for 7-days.

Has anyone found any hotels in Hua Hin that are offering this fifth day stay with PCR test that you can book in advance to get the Thailand pass?
I've searched around on the net but have yet to find one that is specifically offering a booking for that.

It stopped in July 2021:
From July 1, Thai nationals who return from abroad by air or sea will have to pay the full cost of their 14-day Covid-19 quarantine.

That is the date when the government will step back from providing state quarantine as a matter of course to all Thai nationals. Instead, alternative quarantine (AQ) facilities operated by the private sector, such as hotels certified by the government, will be the only option available, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced yesterday.
My daughter spent 2 weeks in a 4 star hotel in Pattaya. Good food, very comfortable but still a prison.
And it never cost a penny!
