Talking of Indian Restaurants, has anybody been to Shiva recently and if so, is it still up to high standards? Looks like Atcha will give it a good run for its money - actually offering cheaper food looking at their menu, although the setting at Shiva does compensate to some extent for the higher prices.

I went last month - yes, still good. The ambience alone always takes a lot of beating.

I do not think Atcha will give Shiva a booking problem. IMO Shiva's food is way way better, as is their menu, so it will be interesting to see what others think.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 9:31 am Talking of Indian Restaurants, has anybody been to Shiva recently and if so, is it still up to high standards? Shiva is my benchmark for Indian food in HH and of course the setting is a plus. Their prices are a little higher but nothing is free is it!!PET wrote:I do not think Atcha will give Shiva a booking problem. The best Indian food I've had recently was at Eat at Sivana, Soi 126. It's very handy for me though 15-20 mins drive south of Hua Hin centre. The food quality is excellent and not pricey. Chef is an Indian who speaks good English and happy to tweak the food as required. They have a very busy home delivery service with Grab guys in and out constantly. Well worth a try .....and no I'm not the owner or a relative !!

If you asked me that, I wouldn't have a clue. I have only eaten at two Indian restaurants in Hua Hin. One was Everest, where I thought the food was dire, but that was some time ago. The other was Atcha yesterday and that's more than good enough for me.
I could be persuaded to visit elsewhere if I could find a samosa as good as Rita's in Southall.

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
I just got back from a late lunch at S & S. It was my first visit there. So far, the Indian restaurants that I’ve tried are Atcha, Everest, Shiva, Royal, and now, S & S. Atcha is still my favorite, but it’s all very subjective, isn’t it? I’ve really only had one meal at each place, so the sampling size is minuscule.
Anyways, I had chicken rogan josh, chicken pakora (first time trying this), and garlic cheese naan. The pakora came with a mango chutney, that green minty, sour sauce, and, what I initially thought were cherry tomatoes, but were actually pickled onions! There were very delicious and when I remarked on them, the owner sent me home with a small baggie full of them.
Not the best Indian food in town, but it was good. I’m always willing to try a new place, but for me, Atcha is not only close to home, but the best Indian food for my palate.

I had a meal in S & S in December, basically because it's close to where a friend lives and seemed a convenient place to meet. I've never been to the other Indian restaurants in the area so I don't know how it compares but I was very impressed with the food there and would certainly go back.
Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
I finally made it out to Atcha last night. We went for our traditional Loy Krathong family meal. It feels out of the way, but just a 13 minute drive from Soi 94. They are never going to compete with the gardens of Shiva, but the food was probably the best Indian food I've had in Thailand. A touch cheaper than Shiva as well.
I'd most definitely recommend it.
Not far from your house either STEVE G.

I’ll take that as a strong recommendation then, because you’ve always sung the praises of Shiva (the food as well as the ambience), so if this is better then I’m expecting good things - maybe next week!!Big Boy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 9:33 am I finally made it out to Atcha last night. Really, the best I've had in Thailand, but of course, we all have different tastes. I don't think you'll be disappointed though. I'll look forward to seeing your comments.

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
ive not been to Atcha ....yet! But its been on my radar for many months
In meantime i highly recommend the Karan Cafe next to the Dusit D2 condo just south of Bluport
As name suggest it has cafe feel in terms of fit out but the food is excellent. Way better than the two meals i had at Shiva
will post a pic next
