Woman's horror as hand emerges from light fixture: 'F**k this'

https://au.news.yahoo.com/womans-horror ... 16732.html

A raccoon in New York City convinced an entire household they were about to be victims of an alien abduction when it attempted to crawl through a light fixture.

In a terrifying video posted to TikTok the animal's paw — which looks like a hand at first glance — can be seen coming out from above the light fixture in the ceiling, feeling around the area before retreating.

“F**k this, I’m calling 911!” TikTok user Yesenia Irizarry can be heard saying in the video as her housemates shriek in horror.

Household told to 'sleep through it'
Ms Irizarry, who lived with three other housemates at the time, can be heard making the call in the background, asking for animal control to come and take care of the situation.

She said the operator told her to go to bed and try to sleep through it.

"We weren’t able to sleep that night," Ms Irizarry admitted in a comment on TikTok.

The building’s handyman reportedly came to seal the light fixture the day after the video was filmed, admitting raccoons were not uncommon in the apartment and that was why the fireplace has been sealed shut.

“The past tenants would come home and find raccoons in the living room,” she explained.

According to the New York Post, the incident happened in November but was only just posted to TikTok. The apartment's occupants have since moved out.

New York news station Pix 11 reported the building's management had sealed the chimneys shut to try and fix the raccoon issue, but the caps they had put on eventually were torn off, allowing the animals to gain entry.

The raccoon is thought to have found its way into the building using the chimney, climbing into the crawlspace above their kitchen ceiling.

Seagulls have 'favourite' fish and chip shops to visit

A recent study by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) used special GPS technology to track the movements of 20 herring gulls living in Scotland and north-west England.

They found that at least five of the gulls visited the Wee Hurrie chip shop in Troon, in Scotland, with some flying more than 100 miles to get their fill.

Dr Nina O'Hanlon, who wrote the study, said that some of the gulls even made repeat visits to the chippy!

Fox likes Nike shoes:

Brazen young fox filmed stealing shoes from family home in Western Australia

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-21/ ... /100926462

A coastal family has been left shocked and amused after discovering a young fox has been stealing shoes from their back door in the dead of the night.

It all started when Emily Marney's 10-year-old son's running shoe went missing from their property in Denmark on Western Australia's south coast.

"We had no idea where he lost it — or at least that's what we thought had happened," she told the ABC's Peter Barr.

"Then on another night, my husband was walking back to the house and there was a fox cub.

"He tried to get it to come and say hello ... it was like a dog and came right up to him.

"About an hour later, we were missing another shoe."

A pink shoe was next

Ms Marney's mother was the next victim, losing one of her pink running shoes.

"It was then that we thought maybe the fox had taken it," Ms Marney said.

"We decided to set up the iPad overnight to record and see what would happen when we put our son's remaining runner out.

"Three hours later at about 2am, the fox came and just took it straight off the step."

The dogs slept through it

The family had sprinkled dog biscuits near the shoe, but the fox showed no interest in the food.

"He just came and got the runner and off he went," Ms Marney said.

"So now he's got a full set of Nike runners and one pink Reebok runner that's my mum's and we also think he has a pair of goggles because they have gone missing.

"We have dogs in the backyard too and they must have slept through the whole thing."

Ms Marney said the fox thief had been a source of entertainment at school with many of her son's friends finding the incident highly amusing.

"We've been setting up the iPad every night to see if it comes back and tries to find more things," she said.

"But we're not leaving anything out anymore."

A few days after the video identified the fox thief, Ms Marney said her mother's missing runner turned up in a paddock ... missing just the shoelaces.

Huge 3.6m alligator found hiding in new $2 million home

A window blind installer got more than he bargained for when he arrived for work at a new million-dollar home earlier this month.

The man was doing work at the Florida property when he discovered a massive 3.6 metre (12 foot) alligator in the master bedroom.

The animal was tucked away in the corner of the spacious room, but it had left its mark all over the home in Babcock Ranch, a family-friendly area where houses reportedly cost upwards of AU$2 million, the Miami Herald reports.

The worker called in the professionals to safely remove the animal. A video has captured the moment two men dragged the monstrous alligator out of the home with a rope.

The animal appears agitated at first as one man struggles to contain it, but another man jumps in and they pull it outside together.

Along the way, the alligator flips and rolls over a few times as it nears a body of water.

It's believed the alligator was seeking warmth and shelter following a stretch of cold weather, Project manager Matthew Goodwin told McClatchy News.

Mr Goodwin said it probably got trapped inside after crawling through the laundry door.

Locals were apparently amused by the discovery, with many making jokes on Facebook.

"Free pet with purchase of home. What a deal," one person said.

While a real estate agent who shared pictures of the animal online joked: "Sorry Mr Gator, that one's been SOLD."

Aussie man startled after creature 'grabs his hand' inside mailbox

A man on a rural property had a new furry tenant move into his mailbox — unfortunately without his knowledge – resulting in a shock when he went to retrieve something from it.

TikTok user lukeyp88 posted a video online, which showed him walking up to a mailbox and pulling it open to find a baby brushtail possum, looking very at home in his new surroundings.

"I just f***ing stuck my hand in there looking for my head torch and he grabbed me round the knuckles," the surprised man said in the video.

The tiny possum looks startled as the man opens the door, raising its paw and causing many users to joke it was spoiling for a fight.

'Look at it's fist': TikTok users react to video
Thousands of TikTok users from all around the world have watched the videos, with many suggesting it be kept as a pet while others thought it resembled a baby monster.

"Australia. Never randomly stick your hand in anything," one user wrote.

Sudbury man fined for kicking hedgehog

Post by dtaai-maai »

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-61174203
A man has been fined after being filmed kicking a hedgehog several times.

Footage of David Herring, 53, of Manor Road, Sudbury, in Suffolk, kicking the animal several times in November last year, was sent to the RSPCA.

The RSPCA said the hedgehog was kicked with "considerable force", causing "pain and fear", with Herring showing a "clear disregard for a wild animal".

At Colchester Magistrates' Court he admitted causing unnecessary suffering and was fined £277.

Herring was also ordered to pay £300 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

Images caught on camera showed him moving the hedgehog from a doorway and kicking it several times out of a driveway of a property in Sudbury.
His defence? He thought it was a rat!

But what caught my attention, and my reason for posting this, is the £34 victim surcharge... is this payable to the hedgehog's bank account? :?

This provoked my interest, it appears this money goes to groups that help victims.
This also shows the rates.

Video of dog driving ute shows Jack Russell Lexie helping on south-west Victorian farm

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-05-06/ ... /100999102

A farm dog small in stature but big on work ethic is proving her worth on a family property where she does more than just round up sheep.

Lexie the Jack Russell has also learnt to drive the tracks of her 200-hectare home near Hamilton in south-west Victoria.

"She struggles because she's only just over the steering wheel, but if she sees the sheep in front of the ute, she loves the sheep that much that she points the ute in that direction."
