Glad you had a safe trip. Is there a time limit where the Thailand pass expires? I'm headed back April 25 and like to have things sorted early.

The Thailand pass is related to a specific flight and if that changes then you need to make a new submission. From my experience of three entries under the system, if you have used the Chrome/Gmail/jpg method and not had a code issued within 24 hours then something is not right or being checked and making a new submission is quicker than trying to sort things out. In my case a renewed passport and submitting before I had the proper letter from the hotel was probably the reason for the first failure this time.
I understand that the pass has built in allowances should your flight be delayed. Things have been changing frequently so it is best not to apply for the pass too early.
Thanks!!

Testing positive before flight.

Post by Tiny »

I have tested positive 3 weeks before i fly to Thailand and suffered symptoms that were like a bad cold, however these have now passed and i am feeling back to normal, however i am still testing positive with 2 weeks to go until my flight.
I am concerned that i may still be testing positive when i come to fly in 2 weeks and an issue could be that i didn't register my positive test a week ago. how can i ensure that i dont get isolated when i have to take my PCR test on arrival?

IMO there is no way to ensure it. You can get lucky and test negative before you leave, you can change your flight for a week or so hoping that you'll then test negative, or you have to take your chances and hope you don't end up in quarantine/hospital here. Unfortunately I don't see any other options.

I've read that despite you being cured, you can still PCR test positive for 13 weeks afterwards. You need medical certification that you have recovered. Time will be of the essence because I believe you have to show cured for X number of days.

I can't quote chapter and verse. I'm not even sure I am correct, but my belief is you need that certification to exempt you from a test. Hence the Medical Certification section on Mor Phrom, which for most people is blank.

I've just been on the Thai Pass website and you can use a recovery certificate from between 14 and 90 days of an infection. It doesn't say that you don't have to do a test, just that you don't have to quarantine if you test positive on arrival.

Government announces new entry regulations
Starting on April 1, 2022, new entry regulations came into effect in Thailand.

The latest change means that all incoming travelers will no longer need to show a negative Covid-19 test result 72 hours before departing.

However, visitors will still have to take an RT-PCR test on arrival and another self-administered antigen test (ATK) on the fifth or sixth day after arrival for the Test and Go and Sandbox programmes.

Travelers are still required to stay one night at a government-approved accommodation, including SHA Extra Plus (SHA++) and Alternative Quarantine hotels, to wait for their RT-PCR test result before they travel the country.

The private sector is still calling for the government to lift all entry regulations as the government plans to declare Covid as endemic in July. But the health ministry said they are still concerned over the rising number of daily cases within the country.

Thailand reported 28,379 cases on Friday compared to around 7,400 cases per day at the beginning of February.

As a reminder, there are now three ways to enter the country including Test and Go, Sandbox and Alternative Quarantine (AQ) procedures.

I've got a flight returning to Thailand April 27. Wondering if anyone who has recently returned can share their timeline.

I'm vacc'd and have insurance.

I understand I need a confirmed booking at a approved hotel before I apply for the Thai pass but how early can one apply for the pass?

Also is there a list of approved hotels somewhere, I'm sure I've seen a link here but can't find it.

Thanks!

You can apply now with no issues. I applied 2 weeks ago and I'm travelling the 26th.

Hi
If you have a favourite hotel and it is SHA+ just contact them and see if they do test and go, the one I use was not on the list but gave me a price and services offered.
We return on the 6th but got our passes 3 weeks ago.
Cheers

Is this actually allowable? I know rules have changed a lot recently, so rules may have changed, but a while back people were arriving, booked into non-SHA+ hotels, and were being made to book a genuine SHA+ hotel at the airport before being allowed entry.

When you apply for the Thai Pass, it only seems to allow you to enter an approved SHA+ hotel, you enter a province and then you get a drop down list of those hotels.

The Millenium Hilton is an SHA+ hotel but not on any of the lists at that time and probably not now. Contracted them and they gave me a costing. I believe the point is that it is SHA+ but generally did not offer test and go unless requested.

RT-PCR tests may be axed
The government will on Friday consider scrapping mandatory RT-PCR tests for foreign visitors arriving in the country as it further eases entry rules to attract tourists.

Anutin Charnvirakul, deputy prime minister and public health minister, on Thursday said the Department of Disease Control (DDC) will submit a proposal to end RT-PCR tests during a Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) meeting on Friday.

"If approved [by the CCSA], foreign travellers would only need to take antigen tests upon arrival," Mr Anutin said.

Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the DDC, said the green light from the CCSA over the matter could see the new rule come into effect after the Songkran festival, which starts on Wednesday.

However, a source at the CCSA said the shift to antigen tests may take effect next month.

Its a start but they really need to scrap the mandatory insurance also to prevent the scamming, however it's easy money for the hospitals so unlikely to happen.
