Obvious to me that getting the police involved (in advance) is probably the best option as a “plan A”. Taking additional simple steps to protect your family is a prudent “plan B”, in case “plan A” fails. If a firearm (relatively easily available to Thai family members) is too emotional of some, perhaps a knife or baseball bat would be an acceptable alternative. Or you can just pray that the worst case scenario never happens. Always having a “plan B” has served me well many times in life. Praying and hoping has too, but the outcomes are more random.

Re: Extreme jealousy in Thai relationships
I've known far more women in Thailand sayng their husbands beat them up often before finallly walking out on a family, one still suffers from internal problems many years later. Invented jealousy is sometimes used as an excuse to exit. Obviously my personal experience is not empirical, but I'm just saying what I have observed in 7 years here.Bubba1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 1:32 pmAgreed. I wonder if some Thai Language boards for Thai people in the UK say Brits like to drink 12 pints of Stella and beat their wives.thecolonel wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 12:24 pmGood point, I think it's a human nature issue/fault rather than a nationality traitBenroon wrote:Is there any evidence thai men are any more 'jealous' than any other nationalities?

Racist in my opinion
Concerning the amount of violence, I can't say I found the same for my 45 odd years living in the UK. Obviously wife beating does go on behind closed doors, but I see no comparison.

Just an update:
He continued his stalking and the police have had a quiet word in his shell-like. Wasn't really effective. They 'invited' him to the police station for a 'chat'. Never turned up.
Appeared at my gate late last night shouting the odds. (fortunately, the gate is locked). My daughter called the police (she has it on speed dial) before venturing outside. Fair play to the police as they turned up 10 mins later but this time they came en masse instead of one cop as has been in the past. They spent two hours with him then escorted him home, with warnings.
Today my daughter returned from the Tessabahn having given them paperwork proving ownership of the house and proof of making payments herself. The Tessabahn have given this idiot one month to vacate the premises or he will be forcibly removed.
Meanwhile they have applied for a restraining order, with the backing of the police, which they're quite confident in getting. Once that's done, if he comes anywhere near her either in public, her place of work or anywhere else, he will be arrested.
Trying to do things by the book and so far that appears the right way to tackle this.
We'll see. Time will tell.

Definitely better to resolve it if you can the legal way rather than some of the other suggestions!! Let’s hope he takes the warnings seriously.

So in summary absolutely nothing has changed since this first started.HHTel wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 8:33 pm Just an update:

Re: Extreme jealousy in Thai relationships
???? Very much has changed. Both the police and the tessabahn are onside plus application has been made to the courts again with the weight of the police and the tessabahn behind it.
He also has two kids from a previous relationship which I'm pretty sure he'll not want to expand his animosity to them.
You and I, Bubba1, obviously have completely different mindsets on how to handle things.

I think Bubba Gump, judging from previous posts, is best left ignored.

You haven’t handled it my opinion. Your daughter is still at risk.HHTel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 9:32 am ???? Very much has changed. Both the police and the tessabahn are onside plus application has been made to the courts again with the weight of the police and the tessabahn behind it.

I would be willing to help in a consulting role. I charge 100,000 baht for an initial consultationjoelle wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 11:31 amWhy don't offer your services as bodyguard to HHTel's daughterBubba1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 10:05 amYou haven’t handled it my opinion. Sounds to me like the type of 'police chat' that I, and others, had in mind has not taken place yet. I mean let's face it, who would turn up voluntarily?!HHTel wrote:Just an update:

Were they sufficiently remunerated for their troubles? Is that why it hasn't happened?
I totally get that the views of Bubba aren't popular in here. But he has a point in that the danger of extreme violence still looms large.
There are some truly crazy people out there who will kill. Didn't some ex bf kill not only the ex but her parents too(see Khon Kean killings a few days back)??
Should push for a stronger police intervention. Also maybe daughter & kids need to relocate for 3 months while the ex bf can hopefully move on.
Either way it's a bad bad situation for HH Tel and daughter
Wishing for a peaceful speedy resolution.

Well since the police turned up en masse, we haven't heard or seen him. Never a day went by without him making several appearances. He appears to have got the message.
Pretty sure he won't be a problem as he knows that he's in the radar now. And as I've said before, he has other family once he decides to move on.

Not sure whether it's relevant, when the police turned up on Sunday, they were accompanied by Hua Hin's 'chief of police'. Did that make a difference - no idea!
