They're gathering in BKK. Massive protests expected today. Whether they'll be peaceful or not remains to be seen.
English reporting appears silent. All the news (I'm told) is coming through Thai social media and the like.

I think any 'extreme' protesting will be held back until after the next vote on the 19th.

Seems they'll try to remove the senators from the equation.

It would be very surprising that 1/3 of senators vote to remove themself !

They wouldn't be voting to remove themselves, only for the selection of prime minister.
A valid point raised that 159 senators abstained which may mean that those who abstained didn't want anything to do with the vote.

Charter court suspends Pita
The Constitutional Court on Wednesday morning suspended Move Forward Party leader and prime ministerial candidate Pita Limjaroenrat from duty as an elected member of the House of Representatives.

The court made the announcement after accepting for consideration a complaint involving Mr Pita's inherited shareholding in defunct media company iTV Plc.

The constitution prohibits parliamentarians from holding stock in a media organisation. Mr Pita has argued the 42,000 shares were part of his late father's estate, which he managed as executor. He said title had since been transferred to relatives.

The suspension does not prevent his being nominated as prime minister, which the joint sitting was also debating on Wednesday.

The case reached the office of the Constitutional Court last week.

The Election Commission had recommened to the court that Mr Pita be stripped of his MP status over his shareholding in a media organisation. The poll body also asked the court to suspend him from MP duty pending its ruling.

I wonder what they'll pin on Thaksin's daughter if she bids to be PM?

They’ll find any obscure reason on anyone who gets put forward as PM. This country will never move forward (pun intended) all the time the hierarchy have holes in their **se and all the time they’re stuffing their suitcases with gold!!

With such a mess, why has the baht strengthened over the last couple of days. The pound is 1.5 baht worse off as well as most other major currencies due to the strength of the baht!!

I read yesterday that one of Anutin's MP's has the same shares as Pita. Wonder how long his case will take.
