Hi Guys and Girls,

Mods feel free to move this if it is in the wrong section.

My wife has "loads" of photos and videos in her google mail (it seems everything she takes with her camera is automatically downloaded into her gmail folders)

She has now reached her "limit" on gmail, and I am not keen to pay anything (however little) for additional storage.

There is loads of free space on her laptop ....... so how can I transfer a lot of these photos, but especially videos to the laptop from gmail?

As always any help would be appreciated, but please keep it real simple

The easiest way is to plug the phone into the laptop via USB and manually copy them. You may need to enable USB data transfers, which it'll prompt you for as soon as you plug in.

The images are usually stored on the phone in a folder called DCIM or under the Camera app if you use a non-standard one. You'll also need to delete them from Google when done to free up the space.

You'll probably only need to move the videos as they take up a lot more space than photos.

There's a small problem at present as my wife (and her phone) are back in the UK

I do have access on the laptop to her google account, and can see all the videos that are using up all her storage space on google.

I had hoped that perhaps I could have "copied and pasted" from her google account into another folder on the laptop? I did try but I wasn't successful.

I would obviously appreciated any further help if it is possible to do it using the laptop, however if I have to wait until my wife, her phone and I are all "connected" again in a couple of weeks .... no worries

For some reason I've been unable to play the videos shown on the BBC News and Sport website recently. I've looked on line and I can't see anything appropriate, just a few items about the BBC Embedded Video system and Flash that go back 10 years or more.

Any suggestions?
Life just hasn't been the same since I've been unable to view videos of 80-acre sunflower fields and horses being rescued from pits...

EDIT: When I click on play, I just get the spinning circle spinning endlessly, no error messages or anything.

I just clicked on the sunflower video and it opened immediately - I can’t think who or why, but looks like somebody somewhere doesn’t love you!!

Try using a different browser.

Sounds like a video codec/plugin browser issue. As suggested above, a different browser would be the first thing to try (and make sure they're all updated to the latest versions).

It turns out all I had to do was use the tried and trusted go-to solution, i.e. switch it off and turn it on again...

My PC is in such constant use that I rarely turn it off, just putting it in sleep mode overnight. Maybe I should turn it off more often!

Asking for a friend..........

She has recently bought a new acer laptop running Windows 11, and keeps receiving the following message:

I've asked Mr. Google about the problem, and it seems fixable. However, with it being a brand new machine, I've suggested she refers the problem to vendor (Lazada or similar) i.e. any attempted fix may invalidate any warranty.

Is this the right advice, or should a (what appears to be) simple fix be attempted?

According to M$, its an error with Microsoft Team so uninstall and reinstall it. Would also make sure the OS is all up to date.

You'll get no tech support from the vendor for Windows problems, they'll refer you to M$.

Thank you for that I've passed it on. The vendor (mercurer, I think) does say they will help if contacted within 7 days, so I've told her to try that initially.
