To give a brief review of some of the places we visited
Turtle Bay - getting a bit tatty, so perhaps I would give it a miss next time
Siam Venezia - The water in the 'canal' is a bit disgusting, so I wouldn't take the canal ride

Everything else was great

We recently had a few relatives visit, just for 5 days and here's where we took them:
- Siam Venezia
- Turtle Bay restaurant
- Kao Tao Lake/Shrine (after dark)
- Memory House Cafe
- Kings' Statues (Rajabhakti Park)
- Marriott (Big Fish Restaurant)
- Monsoon Vineyard/Elephant Sanctury
- Chocolate Factory
- BluPort/Market Village
- Beach/Swimming pool

We thought these were the best places in a limited time and they loved it

Since I have no friends my only visitors have been my daughter and her two boys. Highlights for kids may be different than for adults and with kids we didn't do much in the way of temples or places two young "active" boys would not be welcome. The highlights for them pretty well all involved animals. The elephant foundation, monkey mountain, feeding the fish at the Bor Fai temple grounds were their favorites in HH. I also took them on a boat ride from Racer marina up the coast to the airport. My daughter really enjoyed looking at the backside of the houses and hotels. We talked about doing it again at night but never got around to it, I think that would also be nice.

I personally enjoyed Hutsadin, and yes, many have enjoyed feeding the fish at Bo Fai, although I tend to incorporate fish feeding into Wat Heuy Monkol (which I personally hate) these days.

Please tell more about the boat ride - I'm not aware of that one.

In the past it was always too busy to get served. Now the car parking fee means I simply avoid it.

Noone has mentioned Phraya Nakhon Cave, which I have never visited. Is it worth it? Or a little far?

It's a lovely day out, but very hard work for a wrinklie like me. I've taken a lot of 'younger' visitors over the years, and they've all enjoyed it. Personally, it is a bit too much effort for me to do the walk these days.

Just be aware of the no entry zone in front of the palace. Not very well defined, but get too close and one of those gun happy navy types may take a pot shot at you, especialy at nightime!

The vineyard was always a regular place for me to take visitors, but I stopped when they announced a parking fee. I know you can get it back when you purchase food, but I can't always manage that much food.

Its not really a parking fee, because as you say, the cost is deducted from the price of the meal. I was actually there once when 3 mini buses of Chinese turned up, this was before the payment requirement, they spilled out of the vans, trampled everywhere, including the restaurant, took loads of pics, and then left again. And I was told it wasn't just Chinese, so I understand the reason for the fees introduction.

I understand that, but I can't always eat the value of the parking, so it is just the principal for me. It is as if they are trying to force me to eat what I don't want/need. So, I just stay away.

[Edit] I'm not seeking reward, but most establishments will reward drivers who take custom their way, not charge them for the privilege.

Yes one early trip we went north unaware of the zone. Going past the palace the guards were all waving arms. We thought they were saying hi so we waved back. On the trip back south they sent out a boat and stopped us. They were ok though. Checked everyones ID and the boats papers. They poked around the boat a little and after telling us about the zone they left. If I had seen the bouys I would have understood but they were placed so far apart no one saw them.

I had my Thai brother in law and wife from Bangkok as visitors last week. The highlight they told me was the kite surfing school at the Anchor Bar, Khao Tao Beach. Watching the surfers in the late afternoon sun was spectacular - it was very windy! I didn't have the sea food but was told it was fresh and excellent. Prices are very reasonable. There is parking available.

Hin Lek Fai in the late afternoon is a quick and easy trip. I get up there most days as part of my exercise routine, and the views are usually pretty good (when the air quality is). The biggest hazard is the macaques that will climb all over the cars so best to grab a Bolt.

Yes, I agree, and a regular stop with visitors. After losing an aerial and windscreen wipers to the macaques, I've learned that parking as far away from the trees does the trick. I've seen monkeys looking, but they don't venture from the safety of the trees.

Viewpoint 2 is definitely the best IMHO. On a recent visit, shortly after my accident, I was not up to the slight climb, so sat in my car with a less able visitor whilst the fit ones made their unescorted way to Viewpoint 2. Whilst waiting for them to to come back, a Farang arrived on a new (red plated) motorcycle, and parked in the shade of the trees. I just turned to my companion and said, "Watch this, it won't take them long." The Farang wasn't out of the car park before the monkeys were all over his bike. He saw it, but carried on, so I guess he was happy with the situation. The monkeys started biting his seat, and by the time I left, there must have been a crater in the new seat at least 6" diameter and 2" deep. The monkeys up there are evil.
