Periodical cicadas in 2024

I read that a 13-year brood will emerge in the same year as a 17-year brood, giving us the largest cicada population growth since 1808. Does anybody here know how this will play out in Thailand?

I've no idea the answer to your question, but they were very plentiful a couple of weeks ago. Our youngest dog was catching them, and bringing to us.

They'll be happy in Isaan, my MIL used pull their wings of and eat them raw (I always had visions of them crawling back up her throat).

Growing up in Africa as a kid, the same applies to several insects - Locusts as a rule, but huge moths also. Gather around a streetlight, catch them, rip off their wings and eat them.... I do remember trying it, when I was VERY young - and also resolving to never do it again!!
