I was recently reading that Hyundai has just mothballed a petrol car production facility in China that was only seven years old. They couldn't sell the cars anymore and no one wanted to buy the factory.
I don’t know where you got your figures from but this suggests that EV sales in Thailand in 2023 was about 12% - I’m sure the figures for cars will be a fair bit higher but of course Thai vehicle sales are dominated by pickups that are almost exclusively diesel!!

^Sorry for the misunderstanding, those were the figures for China not Thailand but I reckon that's where things are soon heading.

I know it’s boring to repeat myself, but EVs are garbage. The market for them has fallen off a cliff in the UK.
Expensive to buy (unless you buy a Chinese sh*tbox), massive depreciation, high maintenance costs, high insurance, minimal range, fire risks when charging, excessive weight, battery degradation, etc etc.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but SMMT's forecast for 2024 new BEV,s sales is 414,000.

20,935 BEV's, 18,744 Hybrid's HEV's and 11,944 Hybrid Electrics PHEV's were newly registered in January 2024 alone!

414,000 where's the fall in those numbers?

My EV easily does 300+ miles on a charge.

Insurance is no more than a 1.6ltr diesel I've got as well.

Maintenance for 3 years has been £202 total including an MOT for the 3 years I've run it.

Battery degradation just been checked, and it's at 98% SOC (State of Charge) Many EV's still have very high SOC after 250,000 miles.

Fire risk whilst charging? There are many more fires in ICE cars than EV's, Google is your friend on that.

Yes, batteries are heavy, so what! How heavy is a Range Rover or other heavy 4x4 tank.

All vehicles depreciate, look at high-end BMW or Mercedes, they depreciate like an anvil chucked off a cliff.

Price is higher than a lot of ICE cars if you go for the top spec, but that applies to ICE cars as well.

I've just ordered a New Kia EV9 GT Line 6S and a Kia Nero EV 4, and I'm just a poor old pensioner.

I charge at home on very cheap electric, and it's worked out at approximately 1.5pence per mile for electric over 59,500 miles, how much does your ICE car cost for that mileage?

If you know it is boring, why do you repeat yourself. :duck:
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

:thanks:

Real life experiences vs the BS.

Loving our BEV, and would never consider buying another under performing, high operating cost & hight maintenance cost ICEV, And when the rest of the car can't keep up with the battery pack & motors, simply add the battery pack to our solar system

300 miles on a charge? Hmm…
I will stay rooted in facts, and keep my petrol hybrid. And facts are boring sometimes.

I agree that facts are boring sometimes - especially when they prove that what you say is often rubbish!!

In that case why did you bother opening a thread about electric cars?
I want to know which one to buy, not hear from everyone who doesn't want one!

Does make one wonder, why start and or comment on EV threads if having no interests of, no experience with.

Which one to buy, and think I'd go with BYD
... Atto 3 for a SUV, if not having the MG ZS already, that would be my first choice. Not really a sedan person, as back isn't as flexible as it use to be, and like the extra storage space, since O&A (out & about) quite often, and seem to take too much crap with us.

... Seal is pretty hard to be for a sedan. 3 model; standard, longer range, little less longer range, but heavy on performance, 0-100 kph in 3.8 seconds.

Know a few owners, (on forum elsewhere) and we seem quite happy with our choices, most owning MGs (ZS, MG4, EP/ES) & BYDs (Atto 3, Seal)

If I was to buy one today, I'd go for the Atto 3 but I'll probably be looking at early next year and everytime I go to Thailand, there are new models out so I'm staying flexible.
I was recently talking to someone who has the 500hp Seal and they were impressed with it but it's way too much car for what I need.

For the price it’s a lot of car for the money but they also do a single motor with about 300 hp - performance is still good but cheaper to buy?

Yes, if you do a lot of open road driving it would be good but I want something mainly for local driving and speed, acceleration and handling aren't really much use for the sort of journeys I generally do. I'm also planning for when I'm retired and shaving seconds off a trip to Big C to buy some cat food, or whatever, doesn't really seem to justify owning a high performance car!

Yes, 300 miles on a charge. FACT
Even a few miles more on hot summer days as my EV has a heat pump.
The only fact that you’ve shown so far, is the fact that you’re totally ignorant about EV’s and probably about Hybrids as well.
Why would anyone even think of buying a Hybrid car is beyond me, double the weight, twice as many things to go wrong, more servicing costs etc. You’re certainly not doing anything for the environment, may just as well buy an economic diesel, you’ll get just as many mpg if not more, than a petrol hybrid.

Facts aren’t boring, but bullshit is, especially when they try to use it to FUD electrification of cars. Looks like you seem to have an ulterior motive to post such nonsense, but carry on if you must. 🤣
