Unfortunately back in 2005 no one informed me about being able to continue within 6 months. I did get a letter from social security but I'd left for a job in Australia and didn't see it until I came back 11 months later. There wasn't much info on the internet in those days either. I think the key point is to realise you have six months after you retire to join the scheme (where if I understand it correctly, you need to show where you are registered. If you have the Yellow Tabian Baan Book you will be listed in the houseowners Blue Tabbian Baan book)
